General Description
Brief History
Education of Mentally Handicapped Program is a discipline of Special Education Department in the Institute of Education Sciences The field information and research information in the program, as well as to the application are must and elective courses. Courses are conducted in the theoretical and practical. Education of Mentally Handicapped Program was opened in 2018. The purpose of the program services needed to provide services in various areas of special education, equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills that will contribute to scientific developments and the area to train specialized personnel. Curriculum and Instruction MSc Program serve with 1 proffessor 1 associate professor, 4 assistant professor, 2 lecturer and 2 research assistants serve.
This program in the field of Education of Mentally Handicapped has 60 ECTS credits second level degree system. In successful completion of the program requirements, one receives the degree of MSc in Education of Mentally Handicapped

1-A bachelor’s degree in Education Faculty 2- Competence score of ALES (Graduate Study Matriculation Exam)

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
One receives MSc in Educaiton of Mentally Handicapped successful completion of minimum 21 credits program courses or master program of relevant departments courses( equal to 60 ECTS ), with a GPA of 70 over 100, and successfully defending a master’s thesis in front of a jury

The purpose of the branch of science; To raise expert individuals who have the knowledge, skills, attitudes and experience to conduct education, training and high-level original research, who can think critically, have high self-confidence, and have the competence to follow scientific research methods and innovations in their field on a national and international scale.

Graduated students have job opportunities in centers and institutions for children with special needs and special education departments in universities.

Access to Further Studies
Holders of MSc degrees can apply for PhD programs with relevant score of ALES (Graduate Study Matriculation Exam) and relevant score of foreign language.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
It is applied in accordance with the Article 32 of the Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulation taken by the decision of the Senate of BUU.

Graduation Requirements
In order to complete the program, they must take all the courses (60 ECTS credits in total) having 2,00 general average grades out of 4.00 on the core subjects and are to be successful in the Seminar course and Master’s thesis defense.
