General Description

Brief History
Department of Archeology was established in 2005 in Uludağ University. Undergraduate, master and PhD. educations are still active in our department. 3 professor, 2 associate professor, 1 lecturer and 6 research assistants are working in our department. In the University our department assumes 2 research centers management. These are Mosaic Research Center AIEMA-TURKEY and The Research center of Archaeology.
Our department has important projects, which are still ongoing. These are The Corpus of Turkiye Mosaics, Bursa and districts archaeological survey and the Underwater Excavation at Basilica in the İznik Lake (Prof.Dr. Mustafa ŞAHİN)

Qualification Awarded
The Bachelor´s Degree in Archaeology ( first cycle in Archaeology ) is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum.

Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates must have high school or equal degree and have to take sufficient score from OSYM exams.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the program (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).

Profile of The Programme
Master program focuses on environmental archaeology, classical archaeology, underwater archaeology and ancient mosaics.

Key Learning Outcomes & Classified & Comparative
1. Investigate the cultural heritages for the purposes of iconography, still and the chronology.
2. Aware of the protection of cultural heritages.
3. Learning the documentation ability of the archaeological data. Obtaining applied professional knowledge by doing 30 working days internship in museums, excavations and surface researches under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey within the scope of compulsory internship.
4. Ability for using camera during the compose of the visual documents and using correctly.
5. Ability to join the interdisciplinary teamwork and develop a project
6. Students will be able to have a responsibility at archaeological projects
7. Students will be able to make disciplinary or interdisciplinary teamwork. Gaining knowledge in different disciplines by taking 3 non-field courses worth 12 ECTS within the scope of BUÜ undergraduate education regulations during undergraduate education.
8. Ability to use the Turkish and foreign language sources about its field of study.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates, having been qualified, may find occupations as academics in the universities, as well as archaeologists in the state or private museums, in the local municipals or in the Ministry of Culture.

Access to Further Studies
Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the program (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students must attend courses and examinations. Students attendance has to be followed by the instructor. A mid-term exam and final exam is held for each course in each semester. In the mid-term and final exams, the grade is evaluated by the sum of 40% of the midterm exam and 60% of the final exam grade.

Graduation Requirements
The graduates who are proficient in ALES and foreign language exams and who hold Bachelors Degree are eligible to apply to second cycle programs at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines.
