Brief History
Master education started in 2020. In addition to underwater archaeological excavation and research techniques, courses are also given on other disciplines such as marine biology, statistics and geographic information systems.

Specific Admission Requirements
1- Bachelor degree in archaeology 2- Having an academic graduation grade point average of at least 2.25. 3- Sufficient score equivalent (at least 55 out of 100) from the Academic Staff and Graduate Study Education Exam (ALES). It is valid international certificates like GRE, GMAT etc. for foreign students and it is not demanded any score from ALES). 4- Sufficient foreign language score (at least 55 for UDS, KPDS, UÜDS, at least 66 for TOEFL IBT. It is demanded TÖMER certificate which proves their language skills for foreign students (except the students who graduated in Turkey). 5- 50% of ALES + 15% of academic success in the undergraduate programme + 15% foreign language score + 20% of interview grade: The candidates are ranked according to their total score after the evaluation, and they are accepted according to starting with the highest score. For foreign students 50% of academic success in the undergraduate programme + and 50% of interview grade: The candidates are ranked according to their total score after the evaluation, and they are accepted according to starting with the highest score.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students should have to take min. 90 ETCS credit. Students should take courses minimum of 21 maximum of 28 credits. Students should succeed in all the courses. Students should get 70 over 100. Students should defend their thesis in front of the jury. Master of arts degree in Underwater Archaeology will be granted to the successful students.

The master program focuses on Anatolian civilizations, classical archaeology, underwater archaeology, marine biology, GIS and statistics.

1. Students will be able to distinguish and resolve the period, style and chronology problems of underwater archaeological data and materials
2. Students will be able to solve the protection and publicity of underwater archaeological cultural assets in relation to tourism and environment
3. Students will be able to record underwater archaeological data using technological tools.
4. Technical competence in archaeological underwater surveys.
5. Technical competence in archaeological underwater excavations.
6. Students will be able to do interdisciplinary studies.
7. Students will be able to create projects in archaeological underwater studies or to take responsibility in projects.
8. Students will be able to use Turkish and foreign language resources related to the field.
9. Students will be able to be aware of the professional ethical responsibilities.
10. Students will be able to recognize and use the technological equipment used in underwater research and excavations.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The students who complete the master education successfully may find occupations as academics in the universities, archaeologists in the state or private museums, local municipals, or the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Access to Further Studies
The graduates who are proficient in ALES and foreign language exams and who hold bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply to PhD programs at the national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
In the Master Program, each student has to enrol in the school, and since he sits for a final examination, he has to attend at least % 70 of the courses and %80 of the practice. The examination is evaluated on the basis of 100. Students’ general grade point average has to be at least 70 to be successful from the Master Program. Students, who get one of AA, BA, BB, CB, or CC letter marks, are to be succeeding at the available courses.

Graduation Requirements
Students should succeed in all the courses in the programme (equivalent to 90-120 ECTS) and should complete their thesis successfully to finish the programme successfully.
