Furnishing and Decoration
General Description
Harmancık Vocational School - Material and Material Processing Technologies Department - Furniture and Decoration Program was opened in 2008.
This program is subject to the 120 ECTS credits first stage degree system in the field of Materials and Materials Processing Technologies - Furniture and Decoration in higher education. When the program is successfully completed and the program qualifications are met, an Associate Degree in Materials and Material Processing Technologies - Furniture and Decoration is obtained.

Specific Admission Requirements
It is determined by OSYM that the candidates have a high school or equivalent school diploma and in line with the relevant legislation of YÖK.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Materials and Materials Processing Technologies Department-In order to obtain an associate degree in the field of Furniture and Decoration, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and optional courses (equivalent to a total of 120 ECTS) in the program, complete 30 working days of Industrial Education study and have a GPA of at least 4.00. must be less than 2.0.

Profile of The Programme
The purpose of Uludag University Harmancık Vocational School - Department of Furniture and Decoration- Materials and Material Processing Technologies program is to train the technical personnel who have ability and capacity to work in R&D M&D Furniture Design enterprises. Aim is to improve usage of Solid Wood and wood table and furniture manufacturing processes knowledge, implement manufacturing processes, draw the ability of hand tools, give knowledge of machine equipments and materials, computer based draw design and manufacture software, teach the usage of CNC machines, work area security and health, risk analysis in work environment, ethic of this job area, new trends and developments in sector.

Able to perform basic operations in the manufacture of furniture, to be capable of.

With CAD-CAM software design, modeling, simulation, and production-related operations do.

Use of CNC machines, CNC machines, and create a program to gain the ability to make manufacturing and production.

Capable of material recognition, production methods, practicing knowledge of materials and distinguishing materials and equipment

Knowing measurement processes, controlling equipment and tools. Being capable of using them during and after the manufacturing process and controlling quality departments and contributing to production processes.

Knowing the working principles of Hydraulic - Pneumatic recognition and compressed air techniques which is used in the processes of manufacture of furniture and which is required industrial machineries or equipment and having the capability to perform periodic maintenance and repairs.

To anticipate material disadvantages in usage of main, auxiliary and complementary products in design, production and manufacture processes of Furniture and Decoration. Taking environmental conditions into consideration. To implement necessary applications if needed.

Being aware of the importance of occupational health and safety, complying with the rules at all times, trying to make the counter-system-analysis of risk (associated with the unit in case of emergency), doing first aid applications, having the ability to know them if necessary.

Knowing the methods of mass production, using mass production machines especially for the mass production and having the ability to design elements and auxiliary apparatus.

To fulfill the functions of business management, to manage the production process with simple mathematical operations, to have the ability to calculate the cost-income-expenditure, to know quality, occupational health, safety, environmental management systems and to contribute to the creation of this infrastructure in workplace.

Be able to communicate with employees at all levels, to learn vocational, social and ethical values, be capable of doing the necessary research and technological facilities, to take role in team work if necessary.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates of Furniture and Decoration program; They are employed as technical intermediate staff - technicians in the departments where R & D, P&D, Design, Manufacturing and Marketing, Product, Semi-finished and Raw Material are produced in the enterprises where Furniture Production and Production are carried out.

Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed undergraduate studies in DGS (Vertical Transfer Examination) examination, to take note of the current undergraduate programs can study and, if placed by SSPC.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
EXPLANATION:
Each student must attend at least 70% of the lessons and at least 80% of the practices in order to register for the classes at the beginning of the term and to enter the final exam. Students are subjected to at least 1 midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam (the scores obtained from the measurement tools such as homework, laboratory exam, quiz etc. as midterm grade can also be taken into consideration) to the success grade is 40% and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points.
There is a requirement to get at least 50 points from the final exam. Students who get AA, BA, BB, CB and CC letter grades from a course are considered successful in that course. DC and DD grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for the student to be successful in a course in which he / she received DC or DD grade, his / her general weighted grade point average must be at least 2.0.

Graduation Requirements
Program to successfully complete all the courses available in the program (120 ETCS) to pass to obtain a CGPA of 4.00 and at least 2.0 based on industry training (internship) must complete successfully.

Uludağ University Harmancık Vocational School Furniture and Decoration Program has 3 permanent lecturers.
There is a computer aided drawing and design laboratory of the Furniture and Decoration program, and a Manufacturing and Application Workshop with a machine park that can meet the needs of Uludağ University´s Panel Furniture and Wooden Furniture.
In addition, manufacturing, methods and techniques are observed with technical trips to enterprises in İnegöl Furniture and Furniture sub-industry and new machines are examined and technology is followed.
