Turkish Language and Literature
General Description
Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Uludag University, which was primarily founded in 1990, has been continuing its training with the contributions of 8 professors, 2 associate professors, 5 assistant professors, 1 research assistants Dr., 1 teaching assistant, 2 research assistants work on both undergraduate time daily and night programs and also continue their MA and PhD degrees.
Our department depends upon first stage degree system, with total 240 ECTS, in science of Turkish Language and Literature in higher education. When program is successfully completed, the student has the undergraduate degree in the area of Turkish Language and Literature Science.

Specific Admission Requirements
For undergraduate education, students who would like to enroll at this department are required to have passed university entrance examination held by OSYM.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Because of having to undergraduate degree in the area of Turkish Language and Literature, the student have to successfully complete all of compulsory and selective courses in department and have to have at least 2.00 on the basis of 4.00 in general grade point average.

Profile of The Programme
To adopt basic concepts and terms related to Turkish language and literature, methodology of the field. To do research on Turkish Language and Literature. To teach the knowledge required to formulate, analyze and utilize data concerning the field.

Key Learning Outcomes & Classified & Comparative

The aim of our departmental program is to bring the students in Turkish language and literature texts from the beginning till today by analyzing them in literary and philological contexts, teach them the indispensability of these within the formation and development of Turkish culture in academic level; educate scientists, professionals, and teachers the country needs within the field of Turkish language and literature.

The ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate information concerning the field.

The transmission of Turkish language and literature from a historical and geographical perspective is placed within one of the main objectives of this program.

To be able to take part in various projects and produce and contribute knowledge to such.

To be able to utilize the knowledge acquired inthe field of specialization for taking decisions, implementing them, and defining attitudes.

To be able to present the information concerning the field making use of technical aids (computers, projection equipment etc.).

The command of a foreign language at least would enable one to follow the developments in one's field of specialization and to communicate with colleagues.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Our graduates can work as a teacher in elementary and high schools appertaining to Ministry of Education. Also, they work as a university lecturer in their academic career or Turkish language instructors in universities. Apart from that, they can work in Ministry of Culture, TRT (Turkish Government´s Broadcasting Channel), press and information offices, publishing houses, various ministries, education and cultural institutions abroad, and archives.

Access to Further Studies
Graduates get their degree in Turkish Language and Literature, to qualify for ALES, UDS scores.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each student has to enroll in the school and since he sits for a final examination, he has to attend at least % 70 of the courses. There is one mid-term exam and one final exam. % 50 of mid-term exam + % 50 of final exam scores = Final Grade. All of examinations are evaluate on the basis of 100. The student has to score at least 40 from final examination. In the course, the student that takes one of AA, BA, BB, CB or CC is to be succeed. DC and DD are conditional final grades. If the student takes DC or DD from a course, his general grade point average has to be at least 2.00 for to be successful from the course.

Graduation Requirements
Having successfully completed the courses offered by the Department. Students have to have at least 2.00 on the basis of 4.00 in general grade point average. (240 AKTS)

The academic staff of our department consists of 8 professors, 2 associate professors, 5 doctor lecturers, 1 lecturer, 3 research assistants. Our education period consists of 4 years / 8 semesters. Undergraduate education I. and II. It is carried out full time, including teaching. In addition to undergraduate education, there are also master´s and doctoral programs. There are 6 classrooms in the department.
