General Description
The Faculty of Theology is based on the High Institute of Islam in Bursa which started its education in 1975 as a four-year institution related to the Ministry of the National Education. The institute was later in 1982 connected to the Uludag University. The foundation purpose of the faculties of theology is to train qualified staff who can work in the Ministry of the National Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and can meet the need of employment in the religious education. The education period is five years including the first year of Arabic preparatory class. The faculty accepts students for the undergraduate program of theology. With application of the two-branch undergraduate program, students who meet the required qualifications can get two diplomas, following a program from other faculties. They can also get their certificates with the side-branch undergraduate program.
The theology program is bound by the first degree credit system of 240 AKTS.
When the program completed and the proficiencies met, a BA degree in theology will be achieved.

For the undergraduate education, applicants must have a high school diploma and get the required score for the YGS.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to achieve a BA degree in theology, students must successfully complete all necessary and elective courses (an equal of 240 ECTS) and their overall score must be at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the program of the faculty of theology is to educate those who do researches, produce knowledge in religious and Islamic studies and share the knowledge with other academics of national and international levels. The faculty of theology offers education and research programs in religious studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The Alumni of the theology program can work as teachers of “Religious Culture and Ethics” in elementary schools, high schools/equal schools, and as teachers of “Field Course” in Imam-Hatip Schools. The Faculty Alumni can work in Religious Affairs as religious officials (mufti, preacher, imam, muazzin, teacher in Quran schools). The Alumni can work in universities as research assistant and lecturer beside The Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs. They can also have the chance to work as director, official in public or private institutions and librarian, archivist etc. In other fields when they meet the requirements.

Access to Further Studies
Those who succeed in the Undergraduate Degree can proceed to the Master studies when they have sufficient score in ALES and YDS or equal.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Every student must enroll for each course at the beginning of the term and must attend minimum %70 of the lessons in order to take the final examinations. Every student is subjected to at least a mid-term and a final examination for each course. The midterm exam rates is %40 and final exam rates is %60. All exams are evaluated in 100 scale. It is necessary to get the minimum score 50 in the semester final. When any of AA, BA, BB, CB or CC achieved, they are regarded as successful. DC and DD are conditional. Students who get DC or DD must al least have GANO 2.0 to be counted as successful for the course.

Graduation Requirements
In order to finish the program successfully, it is required to get all the courses (for 240 AKTS), have a overall minimum 2.00 out of 4.00 and complete the graduation thesis.

In the Faculty of Theology there are 37 professor, 13 associate professor, 20 assistant professor, 23 lecturer and 52 research assistant.
The Faculty consists of two main buildings. These buildings contain the units of administrative and technical services, classrooms, study rooms, seminar rooms, staff rooms, cafeteria, religious music room, atelier of Abru, library and the center of data processing.The campus also includes the practice mosque of the faculty of theology, culture centre and indoor sport facility.
