Labour Psychology and Human Resources

Brief History
The Institute of Social Sciences, one of the four institutes under Bursa Uludağ University, was established in 1982 and has been conducting master´s and doctoral programs since the 1982-1983 academic year. The Department of Labour Economics and Industrial Relations within the institute comprises four branches:
- Labour Economics,
- Labour and Social Security Law,
- Management and Labour Sociology,
- Management and Labour Psychology.
The Thesis Master´s Program in Labour Psychology and Human Resources is one of the two thesis master´s programs offered by the Department. The program, initially launched in the academic year 2003-2004, has been ongoing in its educational and instructional activities since 2011.

Qualification Awarded
The Department of Labour Psychology and Human Resources is subject to the 90-120 ECTS credit system for master´s degrees in the second cycle. Upon successful completion of the program and fulfillment of program requirements, a master´s degree in the field of Labour Psychology and Human Resources is awarded.

Specific Admission Requirements
To apply for the Master´s Program in Labor Psychology and Human Resources: - Applicants must have a bachelor´s degree in Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Law, or Psychological Counseling and Guidance (PCG). - A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.40 is required. - Applicants must have a minimum score of 55 (equivalent weight) in the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) within the last three years. For foreign nationals, internationally accepted documents such as GRE or GMAT are valid, and ALES is not required. Foreign national candidates (excluding those who have studied in Turkey) must provide a TÖMER certificate indicating proficiency in Turkish. For candidates who are Turkish citizens and completed their undergraduate education entirely abroad, the equivalence of their bachelor´s degrees must be approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Admission to graduate programs for these candidates is subject to the decision of the institute management board in accordance with the opinion of the department." Candidates wishing to take the master´s entrance exams must apply electronically with the necessary documents within the application and registration dates announced on the university´s website. In the admission process for master´s programs, candidates are evaluated based on the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) score (50%), undergraduate GPA (15%), foreign language proficiency score (15%), and written/interview exam result (20%). For foreign nationals, this calculation is applied as follows: ALES score (50%), undergraduate GPA (25%), and written/interview exam result (25%). Candidates who score a minimum of sixty-five (65) points based on this evaluation are ranked, and a number of students equal to the announced quota are accepted as successful candidates.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students who successfully complete the required and elective courses, equivalent to a minimum of 120 ECTS credits, and defend their thesis successfully before a selected jury, are awarded the Master´s Degree in Labour Psychology and Human Resources.

Graduates in the field of Industrial and Organizational Psychology and Human Resources can be employed as human resources specialists in public institutions, private sector organizations.

Graduates who successfully complete the master´s program may choose to pursue doctoral studies at both national and international higher education institutions.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
In order for a student to be able to register for the courses at the beginning of the term and to take the final examination, she/he has to attend at least 70% of the classes. Students are made to take at least one final examination for each of the courses during a semester. All exams are scored on the scale of 100 and students have to get a score that is min. 70. A student is successful if she/he receives AA, BA, BB, CB and CC as the letter grade from a class.

Graduation Requirements
To successfully complete the program, students need to pass a minimum of 120 ECTS credits from the available courses in the program and successfully complete their thesis.
