General Description

Brief History
Department of Physical Education and Sport Teaching under the body of Faculty of Education continues its education programs to train physical education teachers and coaches within the educational institutions and reforms of Atatürk´s principles and purposes of the Turkish National Education. Our department began operating with 40 students in 1982. Having made great progress within the thirty years of period, our department continues its education with 251 students of bachelor’s degree, 3 students of master degree, 6 faculty members and 12 instructors in Görükle Campus buildings and facilities.

Qualification Awarded
This department offers 240 ECTS credits courses. Graduates who successfully completed the program with established qualifications shall have a bachelor degree in Physical Education and Sport Teaching.

Specific Admission Requirements
Ability Test: In order to take the ability test, the students are required to have taken YGS. Those candidates graduating from a sport division or department of highscools, vocational schools or School of Fine Arts and national team players can only apply on the condition that they get 140.000 or more YGS points from at least one field of 2010-YGS exam. Other candidates who are not graduated from the divisions or departments mentioned above have to get 180.000 and more YGS points from at least one field of 2010-YGS exam. Also in Ability Test; the points after the 30 metre speed, vertical jumping, hand grasping, resistance tests will be evaluated according to the ÖSYM Undergraduate Programs and Quota Guide.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
To obtain bachelor´s degree in Physical Education and Sport Teaching program the students must successfully complete the required and elective courses (total 240 ECTS) and maintain the minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0/4.0

Profile of The Programme
Physical Education and Sport Teaching Department runs an education program with the aim of raising physical education teachers. The program includes compulsory and optional courses based on liberal education knowledge and skills and special field knowledge and skills.

Facilities
1 Prof., 5 Asst. Assoc. There are a total of six faculty members,
Sports Halls:
International handball, basketball and volleyball games take place 1 piece 2pieces of 2000-seat hall, basketball and volleyball training hall, wrestling hall of 1, 1 folk dance hall
-Football Field: 1 grass floor, and locker rooms including a tribune toplam2 two football fields,
-Tartan Track: 1 piece
-Outdoor basketball pitches: 3 pieces of concrete floor,
-Outdoor tennis courts: 4 pieces of soil, 2 to 6 pieces of concrete floors
-Indoor Tennis Courts: 2 pieces of concrete floor,
-Indoor Swimming Pool: Olympic sized swimming pool that is currently under construction.

-Courses: 10 units classroom (1 Total video lounge, 2 the number of halls used as a computer-based training),
