General Description
Master’s program in Teacher Training in Mathematics, established in the 2008-2009 academic year, began to be carried by Uludağ University, Institute of Educational Sciences in 2012-2013. The program prepares elementary mathematics teachers to address critical issues in mathematics education by developing analytical perspectives for research, engaging in reflective teaching, and developing mathematical knowledge with the prominent academicians of the department.

Specific Admission Requirements
Applicants of the Master program
1. must be a graduate of any related field.
2. must have obtained standard score from Academic Staff and Graduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES).
3. must have the required competence of English

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The students of the Master program in Elementary Mathematics Teaching are supposed to take courses in the curriculum at least with 28 credits (120 ECTS) and pass them successfully. They should get at least 70 over 100 and be successful in the Seminar course and Master’s thesis defense.

The aim of the Mathematics Teaching Department is to train the individuals who have knowledge, skills, attitudes and experience to do qualified research, teaching and education; who have critical thinking skills and self confidence and who have competencies required to follow the innovations related to the field within the national and international framework.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates are employed as Expert Teacher in public or private institutions and foundations.

Access to Further Studies
The students who graduate from the program may apply to study in the Educational Sciences Institutes of the other universities or PhD programs of the related fields on condition that they meet the requirements of those programs.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students are obliged to register at the beginning of the semester and attend at least 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of practices in order to take the final exam. They take at least one mid-term exam and a final exam. The contribution of midterm exams to the course success is mid-term exam 50% and final exam 50%. Completion grade is 100 points for all exams. They should take at least minimum 40 points out of 100 in the final exam. The results AA, BA, BB, CB, and CC are assessed with a pass. DC and DD are conditionally assessed with a pass if a student’s grade-point average is at least 2,0.

Graduation Requirements
In order to complete the program, they must take all the courses (120 ECTS credits in total) having 2,00 general average grades out of 4.00 on the core subjects and are to be successful in the Seminar course and Master’s thesis defense.

In the Mathematics and Science Education, Teacher Training in Mathematics Department, the courses and facilities are carried out in a technically well-equipped learning environment with classrooms and labs. For the academic staff, several computers, printers, smart boards, etc. are ready to be used for education and academic studies.
The University Library is quite rich in periodicals and online data base sources. Our students effectively use both the Uludag University Library and the Education Faculty Library.
