Industrial Engineering-Engineering and Technology Management (Without Thesis)
General Description

Brief History
Industrial Engineering Department of Bursa Uludag University, founded in 1990, had its first graduating class in 1994. It established the Master of Science program the same year, the Doctor of Philosophy program in 2006 and the non-thesis "Engineering and Technology Management" Masters program in 2011. Students are enrolled to Industrial Engineering Doctor of Philosophy Program in fall and spring semesters each year.

Qualification Awarded
The Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Industrial Engineering is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum.

Specific Admission Requirements
Master of Science degree and ALES (numeric) score which is determined by the Senate of Bursa Uludag University is required. Students must have minimum score determined by Senate in YOKDIL, YDS, TOEFL or equivalent examinations accepted by YÖK, or foreign language exam which is conducted by the School of Foreign Languages in English. BUU Senate decides the Equivalence of other foreign language documents. For foreign candidates, Turkish competency given by TOMER and ALES exam results or GRE, GMAT and other exams which are by YOK in international level. Candidates who don’t have Bachelor´s or Master´s degree in Industrial Engineering are obligated to go through a scientific preparation program from the Industrial Engineering Bachelor´s and Master´s program.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The graduation requirement for the students in the Industrial Engineering Doctorate program consists of a total of at least 240 ECTS credits, including at least eight courses, a seminar, a doctoral qualifying exam and a thesis study. Students who have at least 75 weighted GPA out of 100, complete their seminar and proficiency exam successfully, and defend their thesis in a field related to their subject in front of an elected jury successfully, graduate with a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering. In addition, at least one original research article published or accepted for publication in a journal scanned SCI, SSCI, AHCI, SCI-Expanded is a graduation requirement.

The aim of the Industrial Engineering Doctorate Program is to provide education and research opportunities preferred by outstanding students in a globally recognized intellectual environment, offer various expertise opportunities in theoretical and applied fields, and provide uniquely advanced education and flexible research environments.

Key Learning Outcomes & Classified & Comparative
1. Provide the student with business strategies to increase the strategic role of technology in business environment, the implementation of new technologies and technology transfer and new product development within the organization.
2. Teach the general business functions, the selection of technological projects, use of resources in the most appropriate manner under limited circumstances, taking into account the various options to solve complex decision-making problems and short-and long-term local and global impact of decisions.
3. Provide the student with knowledge of meeting customer expectations and requirements of products and services, process of technology transfer between organizations, schedule for technological selections, necessary resources for technology acquisition and implementation of the technological innovation process management.
4. Provide the student with knowledge of effective use of production technology in the business, evaluation of development process of technical projects, data collection and evaluation of business processes (statistics), research and development (R & D), management and effective use of information technology within the enterprise.
5. Provide the student with information on processes to be implemented for investment initiatives to give effective results, sales and marketing processes, human resources management processes, environmental impact of business processes and the effects of current government policies on business decisions to be taken.
6. Provide the student with information on social implications of business decisions, ethical issues to be considered in making business decisions, funding processes of technical projects and regulations and general engineering functions to be considered in making business decisions.
7. Provide the student with practical skills to integrate technology with business strategy, work across functional borders, effective written communication, effective speech (oral communication) and administrate plans.
8. Provide the student with practical skills for identification of new technological opportunities, decision making under risk and uncertainty, application of analytical decision making techniques, time-oriented problem-solving and gaining the support of users for developed solutions.
9. Provide the student with practical skills for development of effective relationships with people, application of theoretical knowledge into practice, management of technical and administrative staff, performing on the level of technological revolution (innovation) and management of the lack of data plus conflicts.
10. Take on individual responsibility or take part in team work as an industrial engineer with professional, ethical, social values and essential social formation.
11. Have knowledge of foreign languages to monitor the international literature in related fields as well as to communicate and use Turkish language in written and oral communication in an effective manner.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates of the Industrial Engineering Doctorate Program can work as academicians in the universities and as experts or managers in the public and private organizations operating in the production and service sectors.

Access to Further Studies
Graduates who have completed the Industrial Engineering Doctorate Program successfully can apply for the academic positions in the national and foreign education institutions and the specialist positions in the research centers of public and private institutions.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
For the Industrial Engineering Doctorate Program, each student must register for the courses at the beginning of the term and have attended at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the practices in order to enter the final exam. Students are subjected to midterm and final exams for each course. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. The final grade of the semester has to be at least 75 points. Students who get one of the letter grades AA, BA, BB and CB, which have an exact value out of 100, are considered successful in that course. It is necessary to get at least 75 points from the doctoral proficiency exam (oral and written) conducted by the academic members in the relevant field.

Graduation Requirements
In order to complete the Doctorate program successfully, the candidate must comply with the conditions explained in the Qualification Requirements and Rules section, meet the publication requirement in accordance with the decision of the Bursa Uludağ University Senate, and defend the thesis on a subject related to the field in front of the selected jury successfully.

Facilities
Industrial Engineering Department contains a total of 5 laboratories including Computer, Robotics and Automated Production, Computer-aided Production, Ergonomics, Noise and Vibration Lab. to be used as a part of all programs.
In Industrial Engineering Department students of all programs can become a part of professional and social environment including Industrial Engineering Community, Technical Visits, Seminars, Conferences, Gatherings, Career Days, Turkish Industrial Engineering Chamber, Graduate Meetings, Traditional Industrial Engineering and Industry Summit, Case Studies, Operations Research and Industrial Engineering Students Projects Contests, BUU Sports Center and other student clubs (Photography, Climbing, Dancing, Diving, Chess, Robotics etc...).
Industrial Engineering academic personnel consist of 8 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 4 Assistant Professors,1 Research Assistant with PhD.,and 3 Research Assistants.
