English Language Teaching
General Description
The M.A. program in English Language Teaching has been established as part of the Institute of Social Sciences in 1992 and has been in Görükle Campus since 1996. In 2011-2012 Academic year the Program has become part of the Institute of Educational Sciences and performs its duty by developing and modernizing to fulfill the requirements of the present age.

Specific Admission Requirements
Applicants must hold a degree of Bachelor´s degree in the fields of English Language Teaching, English Language and Literature, American Culture and Literature or English Translation with min. 55 ALES (Social Sciences) points in addition with min 90 YDS (equivalent international exams), and a minimum of 2.25 bachelor´s graduation degree out of 4. All the other requirements are outlined in the BUU. post-graduate regulations.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to obtain a M.A. degree in English Language Teaching, students should: They need to take the relevant number of credits and courses determined by the Graduate School of Educational Sciences, to be successful in these courses,and to prepare a doctoral thesis and defend it before the jury.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the English Language Teaching M. A. program of the Foreign Languages Education Department is to train qualified science persons, who are creative and can conduct research on the grounds of human rights and ethical values; have internalized the principles of the modern information society; can produce and implement knowledge related to the field of English Language Teaching; develop themselves continuously and follow scientific innovations of their day and age; can conduct basic and applied authentic scientific research in the fields of linguistics, literature and methodology; possess analytical and critical thinking skills; and have developed interactional skills at the international level.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates of the English Language Teaching M. A. Program can work as instructors, language teaching specialists and research assistants at national and international educational institutions.

Access to Further Studies
Holders of M. A. degrees can apply for Ph. D. programs.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
During academic terms discussion leadings, projects, research, optional and required readings are aplied. This period is followed with the completion of original and comprehensive M.A. thesis.

Graduation Requirements
To fulfill the program requirements students are expected to pass all the courses in the program (equivalent of 120 ECTS), receive at least a 2.00 point GPA over a total of 4.00, and complete their M.A thesis successfully.

The program performs its function with 4 professors, 2 associate professors, 4 assistant professors, 6 instructors and 2 research assistants in its classrooms some have interactive white boards, and in two multimedia supported language learning classrooms. University Central library and faculty’s library are open to both students and faculty members’ use.
