General Description
The curriculum of the Painting Department, which began in the 2007-2008 Academic year, consists of theoretical and practical courses that facilitate to generate a solution to the problems faced by students in the visualization process of thoughts and feelings. Predominantly freshman students take Basic Art Education and Drawing courses. In the subsequent years, they take Painting, Printmaking and Wall Painting courses. Students gain artistic experiences in studios and classrooms arranged with a contemporary approach, under the guidance of instructors.
Students who complete the programme are awarded a Bachelor´s degree in Painting Department .

Specific Admission Requirements
Students are accepted to the Painting Department with the Special Skill Examination. Applicants for the program must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and achieve the necessary mark at the University Entrance Examinations.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students, who succesfully complete compulsary and elective courses in the curriculum of the Painting Department (total 240 ECTS) and achieve a CGPA of 2.00 or higher are elligible for a diploma.

Profile of The Programme

The aim of the Painting Department is to train artists, who create original artworks by learning rules and current theories of Fine Arts, who are able to offer contemporary solutions to social and universal problems with an artistic approach, who are curious, investigative and inquisitive, who constantly update their knowledge, and who contribute to the country, to the world, and to the cultural and artistic life.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates can perform their art in their studios, participate in artistic events, devises their designs in various sectors, work as an art consultant in museums and galleries, work as a teacher at MEB (Ministry of Education) after they take Pedagogical Formation courses and pass the KPSS exam or continue their graduate education.

Access to Further Studies
Students who have successfully completed the undergraduate program can apply for an MA or Proficiency in Art Program on the condition that they prove foreign language proficiency

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students are required to follow at least %70 of theoretical courses, %80 of practical courses for the final exam. At least one midterm and one final exam are scheduled for each course. The contribution of mid-term examination to success grade is %50, while the contribution of final exam is % 50 ( Homework and workshops may be considered as a testing tool on midterm and final examinations.). All exams are assessed out of 100 points. Final exam are required to obtain at least 50 points. Student has received one of AA, BA, BB, CB, CC, letter grades, is considered successful from the course. DC and DD notes are a conditional success grade. Student’s overall GPA must be at least 2.0 to be successful in a course where the student receives DC or DD grade.

Graduation Requirements
To complete the Program successfully, students should pass in all the courses in the program ( 240 ECTS ), obtain at least 2.0 out of 4.0 CGPA .
