Growing of Ornamental Plants
General Description
Our program was established in 1986 under the name of Grafting and Pruning.
The name of our program has changed many times since then. It was Greenhouse, Grafting and Pruning in 1990, Greenhouse in 1993, Greenhouse and Growing of Ornamental Plant in 2006, Growing of Ornamental Plant in 2009. In our program, students receive Plant Identification,Growing of Outdoor Ornamental Plants,Growing of Indoor Ornamental Plants, Growing of Cut Flower,Diseases and Pests of Ornamental Plants as basic courses and Construction Technique of Greenhouse, Growing of Vegetables in Greenhouse,Organic Agriculture as elective courses. Growing of Ornamental Plant provides education in its own building in Görükle Campus.
Graduates are entitled to to get the title of technician in the field of Growing of Ornamental Plant.
Short Cycle

Profile of The Programme
The program aims to equip students with basic vocational skills as well as foreign language and computer skills. In the first year of the program, compulsory course of agricultural science such as Botany, Plant Physiology, Agricultural Meteorology, Plant Nutrition and Fertilization, Construction Technique of Greenhouse are taught. In the second year, courses related to ornamental plant growing are provided such as Growing of Outdoor Ornamental Plants-I-II, Growing of Cut Flower-I-II, Growing of Indoor Ornamental Plants-I-II. In addition to compulsory courses, some selective courses are provided in order to equip the students with knowledge in different fields.
