Philosophy and Religious Studies
General Description
Consists of History of Philosophy, Islamic Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, Sociology of Religion, Psychology of Religion, Religious Education departments. Phd education is given in every department.
The department is dependent on 3. rank degree which has 240 ECTS system for Philosophy and Religious Studies department. If the program is completed succesfully and the program qualifications are provided, Philosophy and Religious Studies phd degree is gained.

Specific Admission Requirements
1- Master of Art degree
2- To receive required score on the Selection Examination for Academic Personnel and Graduate Studies (ALES). (ALES scores are valid for five years. Minimum ALES score of 55 –verbal-). For international students, ALES and international exams (GRE, GMAT etc.) score reports are valid, and there is no required score.
3- To have foreign language profeciency (A minimum score of 55 on YDS, YOKDIL -English, French, German or Arabic for the last two exams; a minimum score of 55 on TOEFL IBT; a minimum score of 134 on TOEFL CBT, a minimum score of 453 on TOEFL PBT or other equivalent scores). International students are required to have minimum score of 55 on one of the foreign language exams (English, French, German or Arabic) and to take certificate indicating Turkish language proficiency.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Having satisfactorily completed a minimum of 24 credits in the Phd. programme and a minimum GPA of 70, and defending his/her dissertation in the presense of an examining committee, student is awarded the degree of Phd in the Philosophy and Religious Studies.

The aims of the Philosophy and Religious Sciences doctorate programme are to educate high order researchers who can produce qualified information, can make researchs in national and international areas, can contribute the field through his analysis and synthesis skill, can share the data what he reached with his stakeholders.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates awarded the degree of PhD in Philosophy and Religious Studies are able to perform their jobs more professionally and they can assigned as research assistant or lecturer in the faculties of Science and Literature, Education, Human Sciences and especially in the faculties of theology.

Access to Further Studies
Candidates who completed the post gratuade programme successfully can study in Philosophy and Religious Studies doctorate programme under the condition that complete application and interview steps.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Every student has to attend %70 of lessons to check in at the programme in the beggining of term and to attend final exam. Students have to attend at least 1 final exam for every lessons. Every exam is assessed in 100 point scale. Students who get AA, BA, BB, and CB Marks quiz out of the lesson.

Graduation Requirements
Graduation requirements are to pass all courses in the program (equivalent 240 AKTS), qualifying exam and some education courses, to publish an article in a refereed journal, and to complete the dissertation.
