Brief History
After its foundation in 1994, the department of Psychology of the Faculty of Arts & Science at Bursa Uludağ University provided some courses for the students of other departments within the faculty. In 2000, the department enrolled its first undergraduate students. The first MA programme of the department was established in in Developmental Psychology in 2001. In the following years, the MA program was extended to other areas of psychology such as social, experimental and applied psychology. Currently, the department only offers MA programme in the fields of Experimental and Social Psychology.

Students who have successfully fulfilled all program requirements are awarded with master´s degree in General Psychology.

Specific Admission Requirements
MSc entry requirements 1- Having a Bachelor Degree in Psychology, 2-To have the required score from the graduate entrance exam (ALES )is required ( Valid for 3 years and EA score must be at least 55) For foreign students, the ALES certificate and other internationally recognized documents (GRE, GMAT, etc.) are valid, there is no score requirement. 3- Having sufficient foreign language skills (at least 50 for BUÜDS, YDS, YÖKDİL; at least 50 for TOEFL-IBT; at least 130 for TOEFL-CBT; at least 450 for TOEFL-PBT and other equivalent exams. For foreign students, (except those studying in Turkey) TÖMER document is required to demonstrate that they know Turkish. -ALES 50%+ GPA .15%+ FOR. LANG. 15% + INTERVIEW 20%= Candidates are ranked according to their weighted total score after the evaluation and students are accepted according to the quota, starting from the candidate with the highest score. For Foreign Nationals -ALES 50%+GPA %25%+ INTERVIEW 25%= Candidates are ranked according to the weighted total points they get after the evaluation and students are accepted according to the quota, starting from the candidate with the highest score.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The MA degree in psychology is awarded to graduate students who successfully complete minimum 21 credits (60 ECTS) of course work offered by the department or related departments; get a GPA score 70 or better; and successfully defend a thesis relevant the study field.

Profile of The Programme
Psychology master´s degree program aims at building a creative learning environment in which advanced level information on various areas of psychology are provided; the connections between theory and practice are emphasized, national and international literature are being followed closely.

Key Learning Outcomes & Classified & Comparative
1. Having knowledge about new theoretical developments in one's area of research as well as the traditional ones.
2. Studying in detail the theories in one's are of research and acquiring the ability of evaluating the practical implications of them.
3. Being able to conduct detailed literature search by using the national and international databases and other sources of information effectively.
4. Recognizing informational limitations in one's research area and the shortcomings in the application areas and being able to design scientific research which could help to eliminate those shortcomings.
5. Being able to use advanced level statistical techniques which are required to analyze data in one's research.
6. Being able to extent the limits of knowledge in one's area of reseach by publishing at least one scientific article or preparing a conference paper/poster as a result of either independent or colloborative study.
7. Acquiring the ability of presenting information relevant to one's area of research to those concerned by linking those information with the main principles of theories and applications.
8. Knowing English language in a level sufficient enough to follow the publications in one's area of study and to communicate with foreign scientists in the field.
9. Having knowledge on research going on in one's area of study in Turkey; being able to interpret the results of these studies and having the ability of developing ideas about them.
10. Being able to reflect on and question the effects of prescriptive norms related to the field of psychology in the social life of our country; developing the ability of offering solutions for possible ethical dilemmas and being able to carry out such solutions.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates of the program are awarded with Psychology master´s degree. With this degree, they may have opportunity to work in various settings, including private practices, hospitals, mental health organizations, schools, childcare centers, psychological guidance centers, police organization, judicial institutions (family courts, penal institutions...etc.), psychotechnical laboratories. Besides, they may have opportunity to engage in research and teaching within higher education institutions.

Access to Further Studies
After completion of master´s degree, students may access to PhD education if they get satisfactory scores on ALES exam and prove that they have sufficient level of Foreign Language knowledge.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
In order to complete master´s program (with thesis), each candidate must complete an approved program of study of at least 7 courses (no less than 21 credits and no more than 28 credits), one seminar course during the coursework stage and another seminar course during the thesis stage, thesis work and thesis examination. Candidates are allowed to take exam from each course only if they have attended lectures (attendance requirement is 70% of the lectures for the theoretical courses and 80% of the lectures for the practical courses). Candidates receive a score for each course ranging from 1 to 100. Candidates are required to receive a score no less than 70. The letter-grades corresponding to each scores and their coefficients have been determined by Social Sciences Institute. Candidates complete the coursework if they receive one of those scores: AA, BA, BB, CB or CC.

Graduation Requirements
Successful completion of all required and elective courses at the program (60 ECTS) and being able to successful in the thesis defense.

Facilities
Three professors, 1 associate professor, 4 assistant professors, 1 lecturer and 11 research assistants work at the Department as full time academic personnel. Those people works under one of those psychological branches: Experimental Psychology, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Applied Psychology.
The Department owns an Applied Psychology Laboratory prepared to be used for educational and research purposes. Also, students can benefit from student exchange programs such as Erasmus and Farabi.
