Agricultural Machinery
General Description

Brief History
In our country, the first higher education program in agriculture in our republican period was started in Higher Institute of Agriculture (HIA) established in Ankara in 1933. The course of agricultural machinery in the curriculum of HIA. HIA was turned to the Faculty of Agriculture, Ankara University in 1948. At the Faculty, the education program was based on the teaching of General Agriculture until 1953 and in that year, departments were opened. In 1954, the Department of Agricultural Device and Machinery was established and the first students graduated in 1958. After Ankara University, Atatürk, Çukurova, Ege, Uludag, Akdeniz ve other universities which have faculty of agriculture started undergraduate, master and PhD programs in Agricultural Machinery.
Department of Agricultural Machinery, Faculty of Agricultural, Uludag University was established with the decision (No 1) of Faculty Committee on 1.9.1981, by accepting students for Master´s program on Spring 1985-1986. This was followed with PhD program.

You will be awarded, on successful completion of the program and gain competencies, a degree of doctorate in Agricultural Machinery.

Specific Admission Requirements
Students must comply with the legal and academic requirements to access the studies in The Uludag University according to the process established by the YÖK (Higher Education Council) regulations. Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside of the country may apply for their recognition. The recognition record is unique for each student and therefore the procedure is carried out accordingly before the start of each academic year.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
A student is required to successfully complete a minimum of 8 courses, not less than 180 ECTS credits and not more 240 ECTS credits, take the required seminar and the Field Specialization courses and write and defend a Doctorate Thesis, have a paper obout researc area and a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.00 and no letter grades lower than CB.

Profile of The Programme
The program of the department of the agricultural machinery; to be a department using contemporary education and training techniques, at national and international level, one of the leading institutions providing similar education, directing issues of the agricultural mechanization of our country and its industry, creating solutions for the problems in the field, producing knowledge valid everywhere in the world, training innovative, entrepreneur inquiring, and analyzer staff, guiding producers and industrial instructions through the inquiries and services. Also, the program of the department of the agricultural machinery; noticing the current problems about the agricultural machinery and providing solutions, when necessary making use of the knowledge for other problematic areas, having self-confidence, loving the profession, being able to train staff in the field, doing research to provide advanced techniques and contemporary technologies to the industry and produce quality services, and being an authority among other institutions. To enable to give doctorate education in universal norms; to create skilful engineers who enable to produce new technology and to use effectively existing ones, and those have new knowledge and enable to be ready for the competitive medium.

1. The students will be able to enhance and deepen their knowledge, and design, carry out and finalize independently a research process on an original topic, based particularly on their competence acquired in master studies

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Students who graduated from Agricultural Machinery Doctorate program have a wide range of work fields. Graduates can work as an academician in the universities. Moreover they can work both in public organizations such as Ministry of Agriculture and public bank provide services such as gear, cooling, machine tools, casting industry. It is observed that the students of the Department succeed in the works and find solutions related to their profession due to their engineering education.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
As in all programs in UU, grades of the students at the department are evaluated under the credit system with four-point grading system. Even there are different evaluation materials in accordance with the course; they are generally assignments, quizzes, midterms, projects, seminars, workshop activities, and similar materials. The lecturer of the cause explains the students the evaluation criteria for each course at the beginning of the term. Applied lab or workshop activities and similar actions could be evaluated like exams. Except the evaluations made during the term, students have to sit for final exams at the end of each term All midterm activities and exams are evaluated over 100. Midterm average point to the pre-evaluation grade of a course is 50% and the final exam result is 50%. To be able to pass a course, including sitting for the final exam, it is required to get a certain grade over a limit. It is required to attend the 70% of the theoretical classes and the 80% of the application, lab and similar activities. Otherwise, students fail that course or activity because of being non-attendant.In the credit system, there is letter system from AA to FF(Table 1). Table 1. Graduation Requirements
A student is required to successfully complete a minimum of 8 courses, not less than 180 ECTS credits and not more 240 ECTS credits, take the required seminar and the Field Specialization courses and write and defend a Doctorate Thesis, have a paper obout researc area and a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.00 and no letter grades lower than CB. Then, the student should prepare a thesis after caring out a research on a topic supervised by a senior lecturer. On a successful submission of thesis, student is required to give a successful oral examination on his/her work.

Facilities
Our department has 13 rooms 11 of which are for the staff, one room for the head of the department, and a room for the secretary on the second floor in block C. On the same floor, there is also for precision instrument. In the basement of block C, there are three labs and an achieve room. The department has got a 375 m2 workshop and 400 m2 shelter next to the workshop for the actions mentioned above. The department have five full time staff and an instructor who has holding the PhD. The staff are consist of with two professor, three associate professor. Also, the department has four research assistant.
