General Description
1
Brief History
Students who have successfully completed grauate doctorate program offered by the Department of Veterinary Biochemistry of Uludag University Health Science Graduate School are awarded Degree of Philosophy (PhD) in biochemistry. During PhD training, students are taught classes focused on chemical reactions in the organisms, biochemical molecules that are required for survival and their metabolic interactions, and molecular mechanisms that form the basis of living things. In addition, students are encouraged to keep up-to-date with current scientific discoveries, read literature, write scientific projects, and participate in projects undergoing in the Department of Biochemistry. PhD Students are presented with opportunities to enhance their scientific merits, such as literature search, seminar preparation and presentation. Students get to learn how to quickly reach the most accurate knowledge and apply it in practice during their training. They take on responsibilities in scientific projects to gain academic merits and improve bench skills. In order to expand their scientific horizon, students are also strongly encouraged to enroll in classes offered by other departments.

Turkish proficiency certificate is not required for foreign applicants who have completed the Bachelor in Turkey. Foreign candidates can be admitted to the program if they receive a score of at least 55 (fifty-five) points from the YDS from one of the languages ??accepted by the Interuniversity Board, or the equivalent of this score from the international foreign language exam accepted by ÖSYM. Foreign nationals who have completed their undergraduate program in foreign countries must have a recognition certificate from YÖK. In order for a student to be evaluated in this doctorate program; As the evaluation range, ALES score is 50%, Undergraduate Grade Point Average 20%, Interview grade 30%. Foreign student candidates have a 50% undergraduate GPA and 50% in the Interview grade. Candidates with a general grade of less than 65 points are considered unsuccessful.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
TExam of the courses; It can be done in written, written-oral or applied form. Exam documents and results are sent to the relevant institute within five working days via the department head. The principles regarding the determination of course success are as follows: a) In order to take the exam from the courses taken in graduate programs; 70% attendance is required for theoretical courses and 80% for applied courses. Exams are evaluated with points given out of 100. To be successful, it is necessary to get at least 70 points out of 100 in master´s programs with thesis. Letter grade and coefficient equivalents of the points out of 100 are as follows: Letter Grade Coefficient Score AA 4.00 90-100 BA 3.50 85-89 BB 3.00 80-84 CB 2.50 75-79 CC 2.00 70-74 F 0-69 b) Within the framework of the above principles In evaluating the scores out of 100 with letter grades; A student who gets AA, BA, BB, CB and CC grades in master´s programs is considered successful in that course. c) In addition to the letter grades above, the following letters can also be used: 1) Note D (Absent); It is given to students who do not fulfill the conditions and requirements of course attendance and / or course practices. The grade average of D is transferred to the calculation of the FF grade. 2) Grade G (Pass); It is given to students who successfully complete non-credit courses and thesis studies. 3) Grade K (Remaining); It is given to students who fail in their thesis with non-credit courses. d) Students who fail the exams of compulsory and elective courses, fail in absenteeism or fulfill the prerequisites of the relevant course, take the relevant course / courses in the first semester they are opened. In case of failure in the elective course, the student can choose a new course instead. d) The exam results, exam documents and protocol of the courses in the graduate programs are sent to the relevant institute through the heads of the department within five working days following the completion of the exams. e) The adjustment of the grades of the courses taken by students who benefit from national or international exchange programs such as Erasmus and Farabi is made by the decision of the head of the department and the decision of the board of directors of the institute. These grades are recorded on the transcript of the student. Course success average (1) The success of the student is determined by the semester academic grade average (YANO) and general academic grade average (GANO) calculated on the coefficients given in the table in article 21 of this Regulation at the end of each semester. YANO is the weighted grade point average of the semester the student is enrolled. GANO is the weighted grade average calculated at the end of the semester by considering all the courses in the curriculum of the department in which the student is enrolled, starting from the beginning of the graduate program. (2) Calculated with YANO and GANO weighted grade averages. The weighted grade point average is calculated by dividing the total credits obtained by multiplying the credits of the courses taken with the weight coefficients equivalent of the letter grades taken from the courses, by the total credits. The weighted grade average is calculated as two digits after the comma. (3) Both YANO and GANO are determined by taking the grades (AA) to (FF) that the student takes from credit courses into the assessment. (4) All grades received by the student are recorded in the grade book.

Graduation Requirements
Doctorate program; a) Students who are accepted to the doctorate program with a master´s degree with thesis must be successful at least 240 ECTS in addition to the thesis work in order to graduate. This credit load must be at least eight courses and seminars during the course, provided that it is not less than 60 ECTS for an academic year; The remaining load must be met by the proficiency exam, the PhD Specialization Field course, the Thesis Advisory course. b) Graduation requirement for students in the integrated doctoral program consists of at least fourteen courses, seminars, a PhD Specialization course that can be taken each semester, a Thesis Advisory course, a qualifying exam and a thesis study, in total at least 300 ECTS credits. c) In order for the student to graduate, it is also required to fulfill the publication or scientific activity requirement determined by the decision of the Senate.
