General Description
The undergraduate program of the Department of History at Bursa Uludağ University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences was established in 1990, initially offering courses at Block B of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on the Görükle Campus. At the beginning of the spring semester of the 1998–1999 academic year, the department relocated to the Ali Osman Sönmez Campus. Graduate education in the field of history began with the launch of a Master’s program in 1992, followed by a Doctoral program in 2006. The department comprises six main branches: Ancient History, Medieval History, Early Modern History, Modern History, History of the Republic of Turkey, and General Turkish History. The academic staff currently consists of 7 professors, 5 associate professors, 4 assistant professors and 4 research assistants.
This department follows a first-cycle degree system of 240 ECTS credits in the field of history at the higher education level. Upon successful completion of the program and fulfillment of all program competencies, graduates are awarded a Bachelor’s degree in History.
