General Description
Its foundations go back to Eğitim Yüksek Okulu, which was founded in 1982. Within the Department of Basic Education, there are 2 main disciplines: Preschool Education and Primary School Education. Preschool Education program offers education services with 1 professor, 3 associate professors, 2 assistant professors, 1 lecturer, 3 research assistants and 1 project assistant.
Preschool Education program is opened to meet the need of preschool teacher in Turkey. In this program, which accepts students starting from the 1998-1999 academic year, students are provided with a four-year undergraduate education covering field education and teaching profession knowledge and skills. Our students receive internships at independent kindergartens affiliated with the Ministry of National Education within the scope of Teaching Practice 1 and 2 courses.
As of the 2011-2012 academic year, students have also started to be accepted for II. Education.
This department offers 240 ECTS credits in the field of Preschool Education degree. Graduates who successfully completed the program with established qualifications shall have a bachelor degree in Preschool Education.

Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates must have a high school diploma and an eligible score from the National University Entrance Exam.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

To obtain bachelor´s degree in Preschool Education Program, students must successfully complete the required and elective courses (total 240 ECTS) and maintain the minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0/4.0

Profile of The Programme
The main purpose of the program is to emphasize the place and importance of preschool education, to train preschool teachers who adopt creative, innovative and effective educational methods that can contribute to the dissemination and increase of quality of preschool education and have the necessary infrastructure to apply these methods.
Preschool Education program conducts a education plan to educate preschool teacher candidates. The program includes compulsory field knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, general knowledge and practicum. Moreover, students are able to take elective courses. Through contemporary methods and techniques, the program trains creative, innovative and sophisticated teachers equipped with the necessary methodology and qualifications. The graduates of this program are able to find jobs within a variety of early childhood education institutions as well as work as teachers.

To raise gentle, fair, positive, creative, elite teachers, who are devoted to Ataturk’s principles and reforms, have a sense of national and universal identity, have internalized the culture of democracy, have the professional proficiency and sensibility, can think analytically and critically, have strong communication skills, and who are at peace with himself and the environment,
2. To be a department that is active both nationally and internationally, with highly qualified academic staff and excellent physical infrastructure,
3. To create an education environment where the professional knowledge is updated constantly,
4. To conduct basic, applied and original scientific research and organize scientific activities.

Identifies the concepts related to teaching profession at bachelor degree in preschool education, general knowledge/culture, and basic sciences fields and relations between the concepts and has theoretical and practical knowledge.

Communicates well verbally and in writing, speaks at least one foreign language, follows the international literature, and communicates with foreign colleagues.

Uses the appropriate educational technologies and equipment effectively in preschool education field.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Our graduates are employed as preschool teachers and/or administrators in private or public schools. Additionally, the graduates who have been admitted to masters and Ph.D. programs in the field of preschool education can get positions as a faculty member at universities. Graduates of this program are appointed as preschool teachers by the Ministry of National Education if they get the required score from KPSS.

Access to Further Studies
A candidate who successfully completes her undergraduate education can study in a graduate program if s/he has the appropriate ALES exam score and sufficient foreign language knowledge.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each student must register for classes at the beginning of the term. In order to enter the final exam, he / she must have attended at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the applied courses. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course. In general, the contribution of midterm exam (as well as homework, laboratory exam, quiz, etc.) to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Evaluation/assessment is done according to “Norm-referenced scores” or “Criterion-referenced scores.” Students who get AA, BA, BB, CB and CC letter grades from a course are considered successful from that course. DC and DD grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for the student to be successful in a course in which he / she received DC or DD grade, his / her general weighted grade point average must be at least 2.0.

Education and training activities in the Preschool Education Department are carried out in technically equipped classrooms. Computers and printers provided for the use of Preschool Education Department professors and assistants are used for educational services and academic activities. There are also computers for student use. Our university´s central library is rich in periodicals and online databases. Uludağ University Central Library and Education Faculty Library are actively used by our students.
