General Description
In the 2020-2021 academic year, Uludağ University Institute of Educational Sciences, Department of Basic Education, Preschool Education Doctorate Program has been opened and started to accept students. Preschool Education Department offers education and training services with 1 professor, 3 associate professors, 2 assistant professors, 1 lecturer, 3 research assistants, and 1 project assistant.
In this program, if the 240 ECTS credits program is successfully completed and the program qualifications are achieved, a PhD degree in the Department of Preschool Education in the Department of Basic Education is awarded.

Specific Admission Requirements
To have a master´s degree from the fields specified in the call; To have the score specified in the call from the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES); To provide the foreign language proficiency requirement specified in the call.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students who take at least 24 credits (equivalent to 240 ECTS) from the courses in the graduate programs of the program or in other related departments, who successfully complete all of them, who get at least 75 of the 100 weighted grade point average, who pass the doctoral candidacy exam, who defend the dissertation proposal and the dissertation successfully in front of the jury will be awarded with a doctorate degree in Preschool Education.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the Preschool Education Doctorate Program is to raise students who have the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and experience to do education, training and advanced scientific researches, who think critically and scientifically, who have contemporary and democratic values, who advocate for children´s rights, who appreciate differences, who are creative, willing to learn lifelong, discipline, who are open to international and multi-discipline cooperation, who act with the awareness of social responsibility towards the social and ecological environment they live in, who have high self-confidence, who have the competence to follow scientific research methods and innovations in their field on a national and international scale, who have an ethical stance, who are well-equipped in the field of preschool education, and who give importance to their professional development.
Goals
1. To raise well-trained and well-equipped preschool teachers and lecturers at national and international level.
2. To become an effective department at national and international level with a strong academic staff and completed physical infrastructure.
3. To create an education and training environment where professional knowledge is constantly updated according to the needs of the current situations.
4. To encourage scientific, socio-cultural and educational activities to be carried out jointly by teaching staff and students and to increase these activities.
5. To ensure the continuity of this by creating a learning environment dominated by discussion, questioning and sharing.
6. To ensure that the courses conducted at the postgraduate level comply with the developments in the national and international literature.

Key Learning Outcomes & Classified & Comparative

Has knowledge of different subjects/disciplines within the scope of preschool education, can develop the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired at the level of expertise and can produce new knowledge by combining them with those in different fields including general knowledge/culture fields.

Can conduct research, practice, produce solutions, work independently, and take responsibility by using quantitative and/or qualitative scientific research methods regarding problems that require expertise in the field of preschool education.

Knows contemporary development and learning theories; recognizes and critically evaluates preschool education programs, approaches and models in Turkey and in different countries based on these theories.

Can follow and evaluate current issues / developments in preschool education, conduct relevant research and present the findings.

Can critically evaluate the knowledge in preschool education and general knowledge/culture fields, manage and direct his/her own learning and gain the competence of lifelong learning.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Those who graduate from the doctorate program are employed as teachers, administrators, consultants and lecturers in higher education institutions in areas related to preschool education.

Access to Further Studies
Graduates who have completed the doctoral program can apply for post-doctoral programs and continue their scientific studies for associate professorship and professorship if they want to continue their academic career.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each student is required to register for courses at the beginning of the semester and to attend 70% for theoretical courses and 80% for applied courses in order to enter the final exam. Students who do not meet this requirement are not taken to the exam and the grade D is given to the student. Students are subjected to a final exam for each course. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. It is necessary to get at least 75 points from the final exam. Letter grade and coefficient equivalents of the scores out of 100 are as follows: Letter Grade Coefficient Score AA 4.00 90-100 BA 3.50 85-89 BB 3.00 80-84 CB 2.50 75-79 CC 2.00 70-74 DC 1.50 65-69 DD 1.00 60- 64 FD 0.50 50-59 FF 0 0-49. In evaluating the scores out of 100 with letter grades; Students who receive one of the letter grades AA, BA, BB and CB (75) in the doctoral program are deemed to have succeeded that course.

Graduation Requirements
Students are required to succeed in compulsory and elective courses, seminar course, proficiency exam, dissertation proposal, specialization course and dissertation work, get a letter grade of at least CB (75) or above from all courses taken, defend the dissertation proposal and the dissertation successfully in front of the jury.

Education and training activities in the Preschool Education Department are carried out in technically equipped classrooms. Computers and printers provided for the use of Preschool Education Department professors and assistants are used for educational services and academic activities. There are also computers for student use. Our university´s central library is rich in periodicals and online databases. Uludağ University Central Library and Education Faculty Library are actively used by our students.
