Biomaterials PhD Program
General Description

Brief History
Bursa Uludağ University is affiliated to the Institute of Science and Biomaterials Department was established in order to carry out multidisciplinary studies in research areas such as software, health, production technologies and materials science.

Qualification Awarded
Biomaterials Doctorate Program is subject to 240 ECTS credit system in higher education. When the program is completed successfully and the program qualifications are met, a PhD in Biomaterials is obtained.

Specific Admission Requirements
Application, admission and registration to the program are carried out in accordance with the relevant articles of the "Bursa Uludağ University Graduate Education-Training Regulation". In order to apply for a doctorate program, candidates must have a master´s degree with thesis in accepted fields. Success scores are calculated by taking certain percentages of the candidates applying to the program, according to the Bursa Uludağ University Graduate Education and Training Regulation, from the ALES score, foreign language score, undergraduate / graduate grade average, written scientific exam and interview results. The student is accepted to the program according to the number of quotas announced by ranking among those with a score of at least 70.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to receive a doctorate degree, students must be successful in at least seven courses, one seminar course, doctoral proficiency exam and successfully complete the thesis. The total credit of the doctorate program is at least 240 ECTS. In addition, students must meet the publication requirements set by the Senate for Science PhD students. In order for a student to be considered successful in a course, the course grade must be at least 75 out of 100.

The main areas of work for our graduates are; They can be employed in private companies and research groups that carry out studies in the field of tissue engineering, development of biomedical products, drug delivery systems.

Graduates who have successfully completed the doctorate program can apply to higher education institutions in the same or similar fields in the country or abroad for an academic position or to research centers in public institutions for an expert position

Graduation Requirements
In order to successfully complete the doctorate program, the conditions described in the - Qualification Requirements and Rules - section must be fulfilled and successfully defended in front of a selected jury.
