Integrated PhD Program in Textile Engineering
General Description

Brief History
Bursa Uludag University, Institute of Natural Sciences began educational activities in 1982 and up to date, over 250 students graduated from Textile Engineering Department.

Qualification Awarded
The program is subjected to a 300 ECTS credits of degree system in higher education. Doctorate (Ph.D.) Degree in Textile Engineering is awarded to the graduates who have completed all the requirements in the program.

Specific Admission Requirements
Bachelor´s degree candidates can apply to the integrated Ph.D. program. The application depends on the compatibility of the undergraduate diploma and the doctorate program. Candidates must have a graduation grade point average of at least 3.00 or an equivalent score out of the 4-point system, have the required score from foreign language exams (UDS, KPDS, TOEFL, etc.), and have at least 80 points from the ALES Exam.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The graduation requirement for the students in the integrated doctorate program consists of a total of at least 300 ECTS credits, including at least fourteen courses, a seminar, a proficiency exam and thesis work. All the students are required to prepare a thesis and defend it against a jury. It is also required to fulfill the publication or scientific activity requirement determined by the Senate.

5.Gaining the ability to comment on scientific events with a broader and deeper perspective

At the Department of Textile Engineering integrated Ph.D. program educational plan, students take required and elective courses in the relevant graduate program. Students must give a seminar and prepare a Ph.D. thesis.

Major fields of study of graduates of the department can be listed as: manufacturing sector, consulting companies, company representatives, various public institutions, and universities.

Access to Further Studies
Graduates who successfully completed doctorate degree may apply to both in the same or related disciplines in higher education institutions at home or abroad to get a position as an academic staff or to governmental R&D centers to get an expert position.

Facilities
Bursa Uludag University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Textile Engineering continues undergraduate and graduate studies with a staff of 17 professors, 6 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 1 lecturer, 4 research assistants, and 1 technical staff. Our department which is located at the Görükle campus of the university, continues its activity at the faculty of engineering building in which there are classrooms and offices and also there are offices at the textile engineering laboratory building. At the textile engineering laboratory building, offices belonging to the research assistants, Fiber, Textile Chemistry, Physical Analysis, Chemical Analysis, Spinning Technology, Weaving Technology, Knitting Technology, Finishing Technology and Clothing Technology laboratories which includes equipment, instruments and software, are available.
