OCCUPATIONAL HEALTY AND SAFETY PROGRAM
General Description
Bursa Uludag University Vocational School of Technical Sciences, Occupational Health and Safety Programme has been established to train competent technical intermediate staff for occupational diseases, and accidents that may occur in work life both in private and public sectors in the light of current technology and developments.
Students graduate from the program being equipped with sufficient professional knowledge and experience by the help of contemporary teaching methods that provide them theoretical and practical knowledge and skills.
The students who successfully complete the associate degree program with obligatory and optional courses graduate by taking the title of Occupational Health and Safety Technical Staff.
The need for graduates of this program has increased with the legal requirement for employing occupational health and safety staff in both private and public sector work places (based on the occupational health and safety act-6331), and so the demand for the graduates of this program has rose recently.
In addition, students who graduate from the department can receive "Occupational Safety Specialist" certificate participating particular training courses that are held by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services, and passing the related examinations. Thus, graduate students have the opportunity to work in the public and private sector as Occupational Safety Specialists, which is mandated by laws.
Associate´s degree program in Occupational Health and Safety Programme admit students with the result of YGS 2 of the YGS exam conducted by OSYM among the graduates of general high school and vocational and technical high school as well as without an exam result for those who are graduates of departments specified of Vocational and Technical Secondary Education Institutions.
In order to be able to graduate, students should complete the courses in the Program (120 ECTS in total) and have a grade point average of 2.00 out of 4.00.
The graduates having satisfactorily completed the program are awarded associate diploma in the field of Occupational Health and Safety.
Students who graduate from this program can continue their education in the graduate program with DGS exam conducted by OSYM.
Examinations at the Uludag University are conducted in accordance with Uludag University undergraduate and graduate Education and Examination Regulations taking the Bologna process and the student workload into consideration. Candidates for graduation must successfully complete the courses in the program (120 ECTS), and have a GPA of at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale must.
Upon successful completion of this program, students are awarded with the qualification of ASSOCIATE DEGREE OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY.
SHORT CYCLE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY PROGRAMME is a 2-year program with 120 ECTS Credits. The program meets the requirements by both the ECTS credits and level descriptors of the short cycle degree qualifications of the Overarching Framework of European Qualifications Framework HE (QF-EHEA) and the 5th level qualifications of the Turkish Qualifications Framework for HE (TYYÇ, NQF-HETR). Specific Admission Requirements
Associate´s degree program in Occupational Health and Safety Program admit Turkish students with the result of YGS 1 of the YGS exam conducted by OSYM among the graduates of general high school and vocational-technical high school as well as without an exam result for those who are graduates of departments specified of Vocational and Technical Secondary Education Institutions.
Foreign students, on the other hand, are accepted to the program as a result of the evaluation of their applications by the board of Uludag University.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The qualification of OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY TECHNICIAN is obtained upon graduation from the programme of OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY, which requires;
• Completion of all the courses designated within the curriculum of the programme, having a total of 120 ECTS Credits.
• Achievement of a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.
• Completion of the 30-working-day summer practice

Profile of The Programme
This 2 year associate degree program trains intermediate staff in the field of Health and Safety needed not only in private but also public sector in accordance with the philosophy of quality and service that meet the expectations of the modern era. Graduates of the program will be equipped with the qualifications to meet the need for qualified staff that is responsible for health and safety of the staff working in any workplace. The training that Occupational Health and Safety technicians receive will have them both gain high-level practice, and keep up to date with advanced technology and information technologies.
Education period of the program is four semesters (including training time). At the end of the fourth semester the students do 40 working-days internship. Occupational Health and Safety Associate Degree Programme, (Bologna Process Framework for Higher Education Qualifications, Level 5 (TÇYY9), is a vocational program. Classification of the program according to "International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) 2011" and "Turkey Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ)" and its training area codes are given below.
• ISCED Field of Education: 72 – Health
• ISCED 2011 Level: 5, Orientation (Profile): 55, Subcategory: 554 - Vocationally-oriented "short cycle" degree.
• NQF-HETR Field of Education: 72 – Health
• NQF-HETR Profile of Education: Vocationally-oriented "short cycle" degree.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Access to Further Studies
Upon successful completion of this program, students may apply for Emergency and Disaster Management License, and may apply to the following bachelor’s degree programs via the vertical transfer exam administered by OSYM annually.
