Laboratory and Veterinary Health
General Description
The Veterinary Health Technician Programme commenced at Bursa Uludağ University Karacabey Vocational School in the 2011-2012 academic year. The Veterinary Health Technician Programme is also offered at Yenişehir İbrahim Orhan Vocational School within the university.
This section is subject to a first-cycle degree system worth 120 ECTS credits in the field of Veterinary Science in higher education. Upon successful completion of the programme and fulfilment of the programme requirements, students will be awarded an associate degree in Veterinary Health Technician.

Specific Admission Requirements
Applicants must hold a secondary school or equivalent diploma and meet the conditions set by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
To obtain an associate degree in Veterinary Health Technician Programme, students must successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses (equivalent to a total of 120 ECTS credits) required in the programme and achieve a minimum weighted grade point average of 2.0 out of 4.00.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the Veterinary Health Technician Programme is to train individuals who possess fundamental knowledge and skills in animal health, are specialized in laboratory practices, able to follow the legislation related to their profession; able to take responsibility as a team member to solve problems encountered in their field, prioritizing animal welfare and human health; able to assist veterinarians in animal health practices and carry out all kinds of applications; and aware of career management and lifelong learning issues, and to train qualified veterinary health technicians who can work in the field.
Mission
To train well-equipped, preferred individuals in laboratory services and animal health, to produce qualified information, and to train technicians who will present the produced information to all stakeholders.
Vision
To be a pioneering department that provides qualified education in the field of laboratory and animal husbandry, guides the future with its innovation and entrepreneurship, and leads with the people it serves and the information it produces.
Program Educational Objectives
EA1: To train qualified veterinary health technicians who have basic knowledge and skills in animal health, are specialized in laboratory applications, are knowledgeable about computer-assisted recording and tracking systems, and are able to work in the field.
EA2: To train professionals who act in accordance with professional ethics and deontology, prioritize animal welfare and human health, are aware of occupational health and safety, environmental and quality processes, and can take responsibility as team members to solve problems encountered in their field.
EA3: To provide practical training supported by a strong theoretical foundation in topics such as animal health and diseases, laboratory analyses, vaccination practices, first aid, and animal care, and to carry out all kinds of practices by assisting veterinarians.
EA4: To train individuals who can effectively communicate their thoughts in Turkish, both in writing and verbally, at the level of knowledge and skills; who can follow developments in their field using a foreign language; who can communicate with colleagues; and who are open to career management and lifelong learning.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates who successfully complete the associate degree program in Laboratory and Veterinary Health at Bursa Uludağ University Karacabey Vocational School are qualified to work in a wide range of institutions and sectors. These include veterinary clinics and animal hospitals, municipal animal shelters and rehabilitation centers, institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, livestock enterprises and farms, veterinary control and research institutes, food production and inspection facilities, both public and private laboratories, as well as pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing companies.

Access to Further Studies
Graduates of the Veterinary Health Technician Programme at Bursa Uludağ University Karacabey Vocational School are eligible for vertical transfer to undergraduate programs, primarily in Faculties of Veterinary Medicine, as well as to departments such as Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, and Biotechnology in Faculties of Science and Letters, and to Animal Science programs in Faculties of Agriculture.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each student must attend at least 70% of the lessons and at least 80% of the practices in order to enroll in the classes at the beginning of the term and to enter the final exam. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam (the scores obtained from the measurement tools such as homework, laboratory exam, quiz etc. as midterm grade can also be taken into consideration) to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. in the form. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. There is a requirement to get at least 50 points from the final exam. Students who get AA, BA, BB, CB and CC letter grades from a course are considered successful in that course. DC and DD grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for a student to be successful in a course in which he / she received DC or DD grade, his / her general weighted grade point average must be at least 2.0.

Graduation Requirements
In order to complete a program successfully, students must pass all the courses included in the program with 120 AKTS , which is equal to ,at least, an accumulative grade point average of 2.0 out of 4.00
