Brief History
Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program PhD Program is a branch of Educational Sciences Department in the Institute of Educational Sciences. The program offers must and elective area core courses and courses on research and practice. Courses are theoretical and/or practice-based. GPC PhD Program was first opened in the academic year of 2011 in order to train specialized professionals and researchers with essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The program has 4 Professor, 5 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors and 2 Research Assistants.

In successful completion of the program requirements, one receives the degree of PhD in GPC.

Specific Admission Requirements
1-A masters degree in GPC, 2 -Relevant score of ALES (Graduate Study Matriculation Exam), 3 -Relevant score of English as a foreign language.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
One receives PhD Degree in GPC upon successful completion of a 24-credit course work of theory, seminar, area specialty and dissertation (equal to 240 ECTS in total), with a GPA of 75 over 100, and passing the PhD qualifying exam and proposing and successfully defending a dissertation in front of a jurry.

Profile of The Programme
GPC PhD Program aims to train professionals who have good command of GPC knowledge, skills, attitudes and professional ethics of counseling and keep them up-to-date and researchers with sufficient knowledge of statistical and research methods.

1. Plans ressearch using multivariate statistical methods
2. Desigs and practicing preventative and developmental GC programs
3. Conducts research using experimental methods
4. Analyzes new and complex ideas and synthesize them with evaluative divergent thinking
5. Designs, conducts and publishes research which contributes the area
6. Produces original notions and studies using knowledge acquired during masters and doctoral work
7. Counsels children, adolescents and adults individually and in groups and guides couples and families.
8. Proposes ideas that contribute scientifically, or applies a known method to a different area
9. Introduces scientific, social and cultural advances to the society and contributes the process of creating an information society
10. Contributes the field with knowledge acquired by skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation that is internalized during masters and doctoral studies
11. Communicates at least in one foreign language with a good command in writing, speaking and visually presenting original ideas and defends them in front of a group of specialized professionals and researchers
12. Exhibit proper conduct related to scientific and academic ethical values.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
GPC PhD program graduates can find employment in state and private schools, GC Research Centers and universities as faculty.

Access to Further Studies
Holders of GPC PhD degrees can apply for post-doctoral studies.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students are required to register to courses and attend at least 70 % of theoretical and 80 % of practical courses in order to be eligible for taking the final exams. Students take final exams for each course at the end of the semester. Scores gained via evaluative methods such as projects, laboratory exams, quizzes etc. can count for midterm exam scores. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. A score of 75 is required fort the final exams. AA, BA, BB, CB grades are regarded as successful.

Graduation Requirements
Successful completion of a course work of must and elective theory, seminar, area specialty and dissertation (equal to 240 ECTS in total), with a GPA of 75 over 100 (CB), and passing the PhD proficiency exam and proposing and successfully defending a dissertation in front of a jurry.

Facilities
Students continuing the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Doctorate Program can benefit from all the facilities (library, dining hall, dormitories, sports facilities, student clubs, etc.) on the Bursa Uludağ University campus, as well as the library and computer laboratories within the education faculty.
