Environmental Engineering (Without Thesis)
General Description

Brief History
The department has offered graduate programmes leading to M.Sc.degree (without thesis) in Environmental Engineering within the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences established in 1982. The Environmental Engineering discipline has started the Master’s Degree without thesis programme in the academic year of 2010-2011. The number of graduated students from the programme is 35 by 2021.

Qualification Awarded
The students who successfully complete the programme are awarded the degree of Master of Science (without thesis) in Environmental Engineering.

Specific Admission Requirements
Applications, admissions and enrollments to the Programme follow the rules and provisions of ‘´Bursa Uludağ University Regulation on Graduate Education ´´. In order to be admitted to the programme, candidates should have a bachelor’s degree from any department. ALES score and foreign language score is not required for M.Sc. (without thesis) applicants. The General Achievement Grade is calculated by getting certain percentages of graduation grade average, written scientific exam score/ interview score. The General Achievement Grade must be at least 65 points.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The graduate programme students must succeed a total of 33 credits (90AKTS) with 11 courses and a Semester Project throughout their education. A project report must be presented at the end of the semester in which the semester project is taken. The grade must be at least 70 (CC) out of 100 (AA) to be successful in a course. The students of Environmental Engineering Master Programme who meet the relevant requirements are awarded a MSc (without thesis) degree.

Profile of The Programme
It is the primary goal of the programme to provide the student with deep knowledge on environmental engineering issues and to show how to use existing knowledge in professional practice.

1. Developing and intensifying knowledge in the related programme's area, based upon the competency in the undergraduate level (sufficient knowledge) (knowledge).
2. Grasping the inter-disciplinary interaction related to one´s area (knowledge).
3. The ability to use the expert-level theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the area (skill).
4. Interpreting and forming new types of knowledge by combining the knowledge from the area and the knowledge from various other disciplines (skill).
5. Solving the problems faced in the area by making use of the research methods (skill).
6. The ability to carry out a special study related to one´s area independently. (Competence to work independently and take responsibility).

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates who have successfully complated the Master’s Degree Programme without Thesis in the Department of Environmental Engineering can work full time in various goverment agencies or private firms as an academician, environmental scientist, engineer or manager.

Access to Further Studies
Graduates who have completed their education in Master’s Degree Programme without thesis can not apply to higher level of programmes.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
The assessment and evaluation of student achievement is carried out in accordance with article 21 of ‘´Bursa Uludağ University Regulation on Graduate Education ´´.

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the master’s degree (without thesis) programme, it is necessary to successfully complete 11 courses and the Semester Project (total of 33 credits, 90 ECTS)
