General Description
French Language Teaching program of the Foreign Languages Teaching Department was established in 1982 within the body of Uludağ University Faculty of Education within the scope of new restructuring. Our French Language Teaching M.A. program has started in 1992 as a part of the Institute of Social Sciences and continues its education on our University s Görükle campus since 1996. During the 2011-2012 academic year it has become a part of the Institute of Educational Sciences and has evolved and developed according to the global standards and needs of the era. With its outstanding faculty members, our program aims at helping its students, who wants to be academic researchers, or develop themselves to gain a scientific understanding, occupational knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
Students enrolled in French Language Teaching M.A. program need to successfully accomplish 24 credits in courses related to applied linguistics, literature, and methodology in addition to a no-credit seminar course. 20 percent of courses that requires academic expertise constitute social sciences and other scientific fields. Students, who complete the courses successfully, are required to prepare a thesis under the supervision of an advisor during the successive two semesters.
This program is contingent upon 120 ECTS credits, second level degree system in higher education in the field of French language teaching. On condition that the program is completed successfully, one possesses an M.A. degree in French Language Teaching.

Specific Admission Requirements
1. A graduation diploma either from French Language Teaching Department of a Faculty of Education or French Language and Literature Department of a Faculty of Letters,
2. Receiving the required points from the Selection Examination for Academic and Graduate Studies (ALES),
3- A documentation of their foreign language level, which is identified as 80, from Interuniversity Foreign Language Examination (ÜDS) or Foreign Language Proficiency Examination for State Employees (KPDS).

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
To receive an M.A. diploma from the field of French Language Teaching students have to fulfill the following requirements;
1.Taking courses, equivalent of 24 credits (60 AKTS), during the first two terms of the initial year and completing the courses successfully,
2. Receiving a GPA of 70 over a total of 100,
3. Completing the Seminar (thesis) and Specialized Field Topic courses along with the preparations for writing a thesis as an equivalent of 60 AKTS and thus, completing a total of 120 ECTS,
4. Defending the thesis successfully in front of an elected jury.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the French Language Teaching (FLT) graduate program of the Foreign Languages Education Department is to train qualified science persons, who are creative and can conduct research on the grounds of human rights and ethical values; have internalized the principles of the modern information society; can produce and implement knowledge related to the field of FLT; develop themselves continuously and follow scientific innovations of their day and age; can conduct basic and applied authentic scientific research in the fields of linguistics, literature and methodology; possess analytical and critical thinking skills; and have developed interactional skills at the international level.
With its outstanding academic staff and physical infrastructure, our program can carry out various functions such as conducting scientific, authentic, theoretical and/or applied research related to FLT; preparing students who would like to continue their occupation in an academic environment as science persons in the field of linguistics, literature, and methodology; fulfilling its responsibility for the community within global standards.

Access to Further Studies
Candidates who complete their undergraduate education successfully can continue their education in graduate Ph.D. programs on condition that they receive the required points from ALES (Selection Examination for Academic and Graduate Studies) and foreign language exams (Interuniversity Foreign Language Examination (ÜDS) or Foreign Language Proficiency Examination for State Employees (KPDS).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
For students to be able to register for the courses at the beginning of the terms and enter the examinations at the end of the terms they have to attend 70% of the courses and 80% of practices. Students take at least one mid-term and one final examination for each course they are taking. The contribution of the mid-term grade to final grade is 50% (all other forms of assessment can be used as a mid-term grade such as projects, quizzes, homework, etc.) just as the contribution of the final exam (50%). All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students are required to receive at least 70 from the final examination. Those who receive one of the following letter grades AA, BA, BB, CB, and CC are considered successful.

Graduation Requirements
To fulfill the program requirements students are expected to pass all the courses in the program (equivalent of 120 AKTS), receive at least a 2.00 point GPA over a total of 4.00, and complete their M.A thesis successfully.
