General Description
German Language Teaching program of the Foreign Languages Teaching Department was established in 1982 within the body of Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Education within the scope of new restructuring. Our German Language Teaching PhD program has started in 2020 as a part of the Institute of Educational Sciences and continues its education on our University´s Görükle campus. The program was evolved and developed according to the global standards and needs of the era. With its outstanding faculty members, our program aims at helping its students, who wants to be academic researchers, or develop themselves to gain a scientific understanding, occupational knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
This program is contingent upon 240 ECTS credits, third level degree system in higher education in the field of German language teaching. On condition that the program is completed successfully, one possesses a PhD degree in German Language Teaching.

Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates who wish to apply for a PhD program must: 1) Have a master´s degree in related fields (German Laguage Teaching, German Language & Literature and German Translation and Interpreting), 2) Receiving the required points of 55 from the Selection Examination for Academic and Graduate Studies (ALES) 3) A documentation of their foreign language level, which is identified as 80, Foreign Language Proficiency Examination (YDS) or other valid language exams.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to obtain a PhD degree in German Language Teaching, students should: They need to take the relevant number of credits and courses determined by the Graduate School of Educational Sciences, to be successful in these courses, to be successful in the proficiency exam to prepare a thesis, to document their foreign language proficiency and to be successful by preparing a doctoral thesis and defending it before the jury.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the German Language Teaching PhD graduate program of the Foreign Languages Education Department is to train qualified science persons, who are creative and can conduct research on the grounds of human rights and ethical values; have internalized the principles of the modern information society; can produce and implement knowledge related to the field of German Language Teaching; develop themselves continuously and follow scientific innovations of their day and age; can conduct basic and applied authentic scientific research in the fields of linguistics, literature and methodology; possess analytical and critical thinking skills; and have developed interactional skills at the international level.
With its outstanding academic staff and physical infrastructure, our program can carry out various functions such as conducting scientific, authentic, theoretical and/or applied research related to German Language Teaching; preparing students who would like to continue their occupation in an academic environment as science persons in the field of linguistics, literature, and methodology; fulfilling its responsibility for the community within global standards.

To improve and deepen theoretical and applied fund of knowledge in linguistics, literature, and methodology based on the undergraduate qualifications in the field of German Language Teaching,

To posses the knowledge about teaching programs, the ability to seek information via modern methods and techniques, as well as the language skills necessary for generating knowledge at the highest level,

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
In universities as research academicians by enrolling in PhD programs of the related fields. In institutions such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, and others related with public relations. In private sector related with media, industry, and commerce.

Access to Further Studies
Holders of PhD degrees can apply for research projects.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each student must attend at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the practices in order to register for the courses at the beginning of the term and to enter the final exam.

Graduation Requirements
A minimum of 240 ECTS, including at least seven courses, seminars, proficiency exams, thesis proposals and thesis studies, with a total of twenty one credits for students admitted with a master´s degree with a thesis and a training period of not less than 60 ECTS. consists of credit. It is necessary to be successful by defending the doctoral thesis.

German Language Teaching Phd. program of the Foreign Languages Teaching department has currently 2 Professors, 1 Assoc. Professor 1 Assistant Professor, 1 Dr. Lecturers and 1 Research Assistent. In addition, 1 DAAD Lecturer. The Departement is at cooperation with institutions such as DAAD. These faculty members attend international academic conferences for years and have a lot of list of international publications. The department has a rich library and offers on-line resources.
