Brief History
The Department of Pharmacology was founded in 1974, when Bursa Medical School started education as a faculty of Istanbul University. Graduate studies were then initiated, and to date 8 masters students completed their studies with success and received MSc degrees.

Specific Admission Requirements
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology or Chemistry, or must hold at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences Applicants must have scored at least the baseline ALES score on numerical scale that is determined by the Uludag University Senate Applicants must have scored at least the baseline score in UDS, KPDS, TOEFL or one of the equivalent exams that Higher Education Council of Turkey accepts or in Foreign Language Exam prepared by Uludag University Vocational School of Foreign Languages Applicants other than Turkish nationality must hold a Turkish proficiency degree approved by TOMER and the ALES record or a GRE, GMAT or similar exam record that is accepted as internationally equivalent by Higher Education Council of Turkey

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Applicants must take at least 7 courses with a minimum of 21 credits and a maximum of 28 credits, give at least one seminar during course and thesis periods, perform thesis studies and succeed in the thesis defense exam. The ECTS credit value of Pharmacology Masters is equal to 120 ECTS which is comprised of 60 ECTS credits of compulsory and optional courses plus 60 ECTS credits of other studies. Applicants must score at least 70 out of 100 in order to pass compulsory and optional courses. Maximum length of the education is 6 semesters.

Profile of The Programme
The objective of the programme is to raise individuals equipped with a scientific mind and ethical values who can make significant contributions to universal science by using pharmacology knowledge in drug industry, combining abilities in pharmacology with knowledge of other disciplines and making interpretations to produce new insights and using appropriate methods to solve a scientific problem.
One of the faculty members in the department is assigned to the Masters student in order to advise during course and thesis periods. The student picks courses under the consultancy of his advisor. After completion of the first term programme, the student becomes eligible to choose a thesis project under the consultancy of his advisor and presents it to Uludag University Institute of Health Sciences.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Masters graduates may be employed in production, research, licensing, education and marketing sections of drug industry. Those with pharmacy BsC degree may also be employed in Drug Management Committees of hospitals.

Access to Further Studies
After completion of Masters studies, individuals may be eligible for Graduate studies in Pharmacology.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Attendance is compulsory for 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of practical courses in Masters students. Courses do not have a midterm exam. The student is expected to score at least 70 out of 100 in final exam at end of the term.

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the Masters programme, the student is expected to pass all the courses, give a total of two seminars; one during course period and the other during thesis period, complete thesis studies and succeed in the thesis defense exam.

Facilities
Faculty members of our department comprise 4 full professors and 3 associate professors equipped with internationally-acknowledged skills and knowledge in his/her area of research. All faculty members in our department work in a -full-time basis- which enables active contribution to Masters studies.
Our department has several laboratories with ultimate devices enabling studies of different interests. Major laboratories include hemodynamics, pain and analgesy, psychopharmacology, neuropharmacology and analysis laboratories.
