General Description
Emergency and First Aid program started to major in 2010 at the associate degree.
Upon successful completion along with the program´s qualifications of the program, (the 5th level) Associate degree is given in the field of First Aid and Emergency.

Specific Admission Requirements
First and Emergency Aid Programme is entered with the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) score made by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Student quota is 74. If the quota remains open, students are admitted by OSYM with Additional Placement according to the results of TYT score type. In addition, in accordance with the provisions of ‘Bursa Uludag University Directive for Student Transfer for Associate Degree and Undergraduate Programmes’, students are also admitted by Undergraduate Transfer. For the acquisitions of previous education; The student´s application is evaluated according to the provisions of ‘Bursa Uludağ University Directive for Exemption and Adjustment Procedures’.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to have an associate degree upon completion of the First Aid and Emergency program, the students at the program must complete all of the subjects which are compulsory and elective (equal to 120 AKTS in total) and have a general weighted grade average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the programme is to train qualified healthcare technicians who can provide basic and advanced life support to patients and accident victims in the pre-hospital phase, recognise potential critical situations and administer emergency care, and ensure that patients or injured persons who have received initial treatment are transported safely to hospitals by ambulance. The programme duration is four semesters (including internship period). A 30-day internship is required at the end of the second and the fourth semester.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates work as "Emergency and Ambulance Care Technician (AABT)" in public and private health institutions and organizations. The graduates work mainly for the units which give emergency health services of health institutions and other institutions and organizations. Employment fields are the Emergency Services, 112 Emergency Stations, 112 Command Control Centres, Private Ambulance Services etc. of the public and private with/without beds health institutions and organizations under the Health Ministry. They can be appointed as Emergency and Ambulance Care Technician (AABT)" with the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).

Access to Further Studies
The students of First Aid and Emergency program can be transferred to the undergraduate programs of "Emergency Service and Disaster Management", "Nursing Care", and "Nursing and Health Services" via the External Transfer Examination (DGS).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Every student must sign up for the subjects at the beginning of the semester, and attend at least 70 % of the classes and 80 % of the applications to be able to sit for the semester end examination. Students must sit for at least 1 mid-term exam and 1 semester end examination for each subject. The mid-term exam (grades that will be resulted from the following evaluation means of a homework assignment, application exam, laboratory exam, seminar presentation or quiz may well be added to the evaluation of the mid-term grades) contributes 40 % percent and the semester end examination contributes 60 % to the calculation of the success grade. Every examination is evaluated over 100 points. It is compulsory to have at least 50 points from the semester end examination. The pass grade of a subject is at least 50 points, and the success of a class is evaluated via Relative Evaluation System. The students who take the grades of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC from a subject become successful at the subject. The grades of DC and DD are conditional pass grades. In order to become successful at a subject which a student takes, he or she has to have at least 2.0 general weighted grade average (GANO) when graduating from the school.

Graduation Requirements
Graduation procedures in the First Aid and Emergency Care Programme are conducted in accordance with 37th item of Bursa Uludağ University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education and Teaching Regulations. Accordingly;
Students who have successfully completed at least 120 ECTS credits,
Have a minimum General Academic Grade Point Average (GANO) of 2.00,
Have fulfilled all course requirements for the programme and successfully completed their internship are eligible for graduation.

The language of instruction is Turkish, and the quota is 74.
There is no preparatory programme or second teaching. Classes are held in the school classrooms, the First Aid and Emergency Care Application Laboratory, and USİM (Centre for Good Medical Practice). Field applications are carried out at Bursa Uludağ University Hospital´s Department of Emergency Medicine, Department of Cardiology, and Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
