The Seed Program was established in the 2000-2001 academic year and was closed in the 2017-2018 academic year.

This program is a 2-year associate degree with 120 ECTS credits in the field of seed growing. When program is successfully completed and all degree qualifications are met, students shall earn the title of Agricultural Technician (associate degree) in the area.

Short Cycle

Candidates must have a higher school diploma or an equivalent school diploma and have had enough points in YGS-6 (Passage to Higher Education Exam) exam results provided by ÖSYM which is the student selection and placement center in TURKEY. or they can pass without exam, thanks to their right of free passage, from vocational schools to their related branches at universities.

The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

In order to get pre-Bsc degree at Seeding Program, the total of compulsory and elective hours of the lessons must be the equivalent of 120 ECTS and fully succeeded . The cumulative grade point average must be at least 2.0 out 4.00.

The main purpose of the of Seeding Program is to train highly qualified agricultural technicians with sufficient cultural knowledge and communicational skills, in order to continue production and marketing of efficient and certified field and garden crops seeds, efficiently in an research and development laboratory environment.

3. to have the ability to reach available and required scientific knowledge by using computer and internet technologies
4. to learn and apply basic essential subjects required for crop production
5. to gain knowledge in plant genetic, breeding and biotechnology
6. to learn about seed technology, seed registration and certification procedures, quarantine techniques in seed production.
7. to learn and apply the techniques of seed production of plant species
8. to gain skills and the ability to use methods with pests, diseases and weeds in plants and seeds.
9. to learn about processing, quality control, storage, agricultural mechanization, irrigation, fertilization, economy, policy, organic farming and other marketing stages of field crop and vegetable plant seeds
10. to learn about tools and methods to be used to help producers to adopt new agricultural technologies

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

1. Public Sector: Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, and Provincial and District Offices, Research Institutes, Municipalities. 2. Agricultural Cooperatives; such as, Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, Agricultural Marketing Cooperatives, Agricultural Development Cooperatives. 3. Seed production companies in private sector. 4. Self owned private establishments.

Access to Further Studies

May apply to bachelor´s programs in related fields of study, and gain the title of Agricultural Engineer, provided that the student obtains sufficient score in the Vertical Transfer Examination(DGS) administered by the Student Selection Centre, or may apply to bachelor´s degree completion programs in related fields of study in Distance Education System.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Students are required to attend classes, practice sessions and examinations. Minimum required attendance is 70 percent for classes and 80 percent for practice sessions. A student who does not fulfill the requirement for attendance is not allowed to take the final examination for the semester concerned. A student in such status is to repeat the course. At least one midterm examination and a final examination are given each semester. Exams are evaluated over 100 points, and both midterm and final exams contribute equally 50% to the final grade of students with the requirement of taking minimum 30 points on the final exam. Students are graded passing letter grades of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC when the requirements are achieved, for those who are granted conditional passing grades of DC and DD, are required to have a minimum GPA of 2.0 in order to graduate.

Graduation Requirements

Students which have a minimum cumulative academic degree 2.0 can be graduated if they success the 120 ECTS credit of learning program in total and complete their practical training (internship.)

Facilities

Mustafakemalpasa Vocational School has a total of 8 academic stuff of 4 Assistant Professor, 1 Associate professor, and 3 M.Sc and Ph.D degrees work as instructor in our learning program. Students can be developed their knowledge and skills in our Seed Technology and Computer Laborataries. Other facilities include; a field of 8 acres, a green house, library and cafeteria.
