Basic Islamic Sciences
General Description

Brief History
Basic Islamic Sciences consists of Tafsir, Hadith, Islamic Law, Islamic Theology, History of Islamic Sects, Islamic Mysticism and Arabic Language. In every field, there is a Phd program.

Qualification Awarded
This department is bound by the third degree credit system of 240 ECTS for the Phd program in Basic Islamic Sciences. When the program completed and the proficiencies met, a Phd degree in Basic Islamic Sciences will be achieved.

Specific Admission Requirements
1- A Master Diploma 2- Required grade for the ALES (Three years, the verbal grade must be at least 55). It is not required for the overseas students when GRE or GMAT met. 3- Sufficient grade for a foreign language. (for YDS and YOKDIL (English, French, German, Arabic) minimum 55, for TOEFL IBT minimum 55, for TOEFL CBT minimum 134, for TOEFL PBT minimum 453 or other equal examinations. Overseas students should provide minimum 55 in English, French, German or Arabic and a proficiency document in Turkish (except who were educated in Turkey.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The diploma of PhD in Basic Islamic Sciences will be given to those who take minimum 24 credits with the minimun grade 75 and successfully defend his/her theses in front of jury.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the PhD program in Basic Islamic Sciences is to educate those who produce knowledge in relevant fields, do researches in national and international scales, contribute to the field in an analytic and synthetic approach and share the knowledge with other academics in national and international levels.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The Alumni in Basic Islamic Sciences can do their jobs more effectively in educational and religious fields and also have the chance to be research assistances or faculty staff in the universities.

Access to Further Studies
Those who succeed in the Masters Degree can proceed to the PhD studies if they are sufficient in application and oral examination.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Every student must attend minimum %70 of the lessons in order to take the final examinations. Every student is subjected to a final examination at the end of a semester for each course. All exams are evaluated in 100 scale. It is necessary to achieve 75 in PhD degree in the semester final. When any of AA, BA, BB or CB achieved, they are regarded as successful.

Graduation Requirements
In order to finish the program successfully, it is required to get all the courses (for 240 AKTS), get the proficiency examination, get the Professional education courses, publish an article in a peer-reviewed journal and become successful in the thesis.
