Medical Imaging Techniques
General Description
Medical Imaging Techniques program started to major in 1985 at the associate degree.
Upon successful completion along with the program´s qualifications of the program, (the 5th level) Associate degree is given in the field of Medical Imaging Techniques.

Specific Admission Requirements
First, the students who prefer the open admission from Vocational Schools of Health in the Vocational and Technical Education Area (METEB) are accepted to the Medical Imaging Techniques program in accordance with their Secondary Education Success Grade (OÖP) by Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). In the event of the quota of 30 stays open, students are accepted out of METEB in accordance with YGS-1 grade type results via central placement by the ÖSYM.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to have an associate degree upon completion of the Medical Imaging Techniques program, the students at the program must complete all of the subjects which are compulsory and elective (equal to 121 AKTS in total) and have a general weighted grade average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the program is to train learned and skilled health technicians adapted to the world and country conditions who can take patient´s x-rays proper to the needs of doctors to be used in the studies of treatments and diagnoses of the diseases; prepare and apply the gadgets used with the patients under radiotherapy; work coordinated with the expert radiology physician and all other health care workers by using the advanced technology in the field at the health institutions and organizations. The program´s period of study is four semesters (including internship) The internship lasts 30 work days at the end of the fourth semester.

Key Learning Outcomes & Classified & Comparative

Professionally evaluate and apply the knowledge gained through the theoretical and applied courses which are at the base level aided with course books, application tools and other resources in the field of Medical Imagining Techniques.

Inform the concerned people or institutions by using their gained basic knowledge related to the field of Medical Imagining Techniques and Secretaryship, and transfer their thoughts and solutions suggestions related to the issues verbally and in writing.

Perform the processes of diagnosis and treatment which the doctor sees necessary independently or with the doctor when needed by using related gadgets, tools and techniques in the units of radiology, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine centres of health institutions with their basic knowledge of medical imagining techniques and physics principles.

4.
Act proper to the quality management and processes by being in the team in order to solve the present and unpredictable complex problems encountered during the applications related to the field of Medical Imagining Techniques and take personal responsibilities when needed.

5.
Act proper to the public, scientific, cultural and ethic values at the steps of data collection, interpretation, application and declaring the results related to the field of Medical Imagining Techniques.

6.
Establish an active communication with the colleagues, patients, patient relatives, doctors and other health workers.
|
7.
Know the institutions and organizations exist in the health system; act proper to the laws, regulations and directives related to their rights and responsibilities as an individual working in the field of Medical Imagining Techniques.

8.
Use well the information and communication technologies, and the computer software related to the field of Medical Imagining Techniques.

9.
Know anatomical structures, human physiology, and have the knowledge of radiological anatomy related to the radiological examinations to be done in the field of medical imagining.

10.
Have the knowledge of control and maintenance of the gadgets and equipment they use in the fields of radiology, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine, or to have them (error, periodical medical maintenance etc.) done when needed.

11.
Know radiation safety and to be protected from radiation, and protect themselves, patients and public from radiation with safety precautions.
|
12.
Attend necessary programs, vocational in-service activities and other studies in order to improve themselves individually and professionally.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates work as "Radiology Technician" in public and private health institutions and organizations. Employment fields are Radiology units and Medical Imaging Centres of the public and private treatment institutions with/ without beds under the Health Ministry. The direct x-ray films needed to diagnose the disease serve in various units such as Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance, Mammography, Ultrasonography or in various units of Nuclear Medicine departments to prepare and apply the gadgets used with the patients under radiotherapy. They can be appointed as Health Technicians in accordance with the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).

Access to Further Studies
The students of Radiology and Medical Imaging program can be transferred to the undergraduate programs of "Nursing Care", and "Nursing and Health Services" via the External Transfer Examination (DGS).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Every student must sign up for the subjects at the beginning of the semester, and attend at least 70 % of the classes and 80 % of the applications to be able to sit for the semester end examination. Students must sit for at least 1 mid-term exam and 1 semester end examination for each subject. The mid-term exam (grades that will be resulted from the following evaluation means of a homework assignment, application exam, laboratory exam, seminar presentation or quiz may well be added to the evaluation of the mid-term grades) contributes 40 % percent and the semester end examination contributes 60 % to the calculation of the success grade. Every examination is evaluated over 100 points. It is compulsory to have at least 50 points from the semester end examination. The pass grade of a subject is at least 50 points, and the success of a class is evaluated via Relative Evaluation System. The students who take the grades of AA, BA, BB, CB and CC from a subject become successful at the subject. The grades of DC and DD are conditional pass grades. In order to become successful at a subject which a student takes, he or she has to have at least 2.0 general weighted grade average (GANO) when graduating from the school.

Graduation Requirements
In order to complete the program with success, a student has to pass (equal to 121 AKTS) all of the subjects exist in the program, and have at least 2.00 over 4.00 general weighted grade average, and complete the 30 work day internship at the end of the second year with success.

Education Language is Turkish, and the quota is 74 students. It does not have a preparation and an evening program. Classes are taught at the classrooms of the school and the classrooms of U.U. Medicine Faculty Radiology Department. Applications are performed in the related units of Radiology Department in Health Application and Research Centre.
