General Description
The Department of Plant Protection was established in 1981. As a part of Agricultural Faculty of Uludag University. The curriculum includes training and teaching activities at the departmental level offering BSc, MSc and PhD Programmes. Plant Protection Programme consists of two main disciplines, Entomology and Phytopathology. The Entomology subdivision is involved in research on the identification and biology of insect pests, mites and nematodes of agricultural crops as well as the development of sustainable control methods against them using integrated pest management. The Phytopathology subdivision focuses on biotic (fungi, viruses, bacteria, etc.) and abiotic factors that cause plant diseases and the alternative, novel ways of controlling them. Plant Protection Programme is currently composed of 4 Professor, 3 Associate Professors, 1 Assistant Professor and 4 Research Assistants.
Plant Protection Master´s Education Programme comprises a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and is considered as eight stage degree system in higher education. The Doctorate (Ph. D.) Degree in Plant Protection Programme is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum.

Specific Admission Requirements
Master s Degree Graduate certificate is mandatory. Application to the Ph.D. programme with master certificate depends on the conformity condition of the Ph.D. Candidates must have scientific-field based Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES- Scientific field) ALES score determined by the Uludag University Senate. The scores of International Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or (Graduate Management Admission Test) GMAT and other exams which are recognized by Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK) at the international level. Students must have National Inter-Universities English Language Exam (UDS), KPDS (Governmental Staff Language Exam), TOEFL or equivalent examinations accepted by YÖK whose minimum score determined by Senate in languages of English, German, French, Italian, Russian and Arabic, for foreign students in English, German, French languages. UU Senate decides the Equivalence of other foreign language documents. For foreign candidates, Turkish proficiency test is administered by Turkish and Foreign Languages Research and Application Center of Ankara University (TÖMER).

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The programme includes a total of not less than 24-30 local credits, a qualifying examination, thesis proposal, thesis and dissertation defense consists of the presentation. It consists of compulsory and elective courses in graduate courses, up to a total of 180-240 ECTS total number of credits of the programme. In order to pass the course, students must score at least 75 out of 100 for mandatory courses. Students who have the relevant conditions are awarded Doctoral degree in Plant Protection.

Ph.D. Thesis, Plant Protection programme aims to give students the ability to do independent research, creative and critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making related to the field, such as using high-level mental processes, to provide new ideas and methods to develop.
