General Description
MACHINE AND METAL TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT/ MACHINE PROGRAMME
Machine program Vocational School of Technical Sciences has been established in 1986. Then depending on the growth of industry and increasing of the demand of qualified personal from the industry, also established in İnegöl, Orhangazi , Mustafa Kemal Paşa ,Yenişehir and Gemlik townships.
This program is subject to the 120 ECTS credits first stage degree system in the field of Machine and Metal Technology in higher education. Upon successfully completion of the qualification requirements of the associate degree program, students are awarded by the title of Machine Technician
------------
4
Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates must have high school diploma and enough score from YGS-Higher Education Transition Examination. While vocational school graduates are placed without examination high school graduates are placed with theYGS-1 score.
5
Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.
6
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to graduate from Machine and Metal Technology Technology Department-Machine Program and to get the title of Machine technician and associate degree, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses (totally equivalent to120 ECTS) and 30 work days industry-based internship. Overall grade point average must be at least 2.00 on 4.00 scale.
7
Profile of The Programme
Efficient and right application of equipment and machinery in industrial actions are quite important. The lack of work force equipped and skilled in engineering sciences, production, mechanical design and mechanics fields with computer, analysis and design skills is high. Graduated students who have a mechanical technician title earn general knowledge and ability in the subjects such as traditional manufacturing methods, design techniques, material choice, computer-aided design and manufacturing methods. This programme intends to include all kinds of practical and theoretical aspects of the field of study and it aims to furnish students with fundamental knowledge about mechanical design, mechanical science and mechanical components to equip students with the skills required in conventional manufacturing methods, design techniques, material choice, computer-aided design and manufacturing methods.

Gradutuated students can be employed in a wide range of industries such as automotive and machine industry
10
Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have completed associate degree training can study bachelor’s degree programs (engineer or technical teacher) if they get a desired grade from DGS (vertical transfer exam) and if they are placed by ÖSYM (Student selection and Placement Centre).
11
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Before the start of each semester, students must register for their courses and in order to admit to the final examinations they must be continued for at least 70% of courses and 80% of practical applications. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam. For each course the instructor advises students at the beginning of each semester with regard to the requirements for midterm examinations, papers and other assignments, conditions for admission to final examinations, and the weighting of midterm examinations, assignments and other studies in the calculation of the final course grade. The course instructor assigns a grade of between 0 and 100 for each course taken by a student and this grade is known as the raw score. Students must take at least 30 on 100 for each course. A student who has received any of the AA, BA, BB, CB, CC letter grade is considered as successful in that course. DD and DC are probation passing grades. Students must have a GPA of over 2 to be successful from any course received DD or DC letter grade.
12
Graduation Requirements
To finish the program successfully, complete all the courses available in the program (120 ECTS), get a GPA at least 2.00/4.00 and complete the internship based on industry training.
