Forensic Sciences Doctorate Program (Interdisciplinary)
General Description

Brief History
The 2013-2014 academic year started with the admission of students to the interdisciplinary Master´s Program under the Department of CRIMINALISTICS, within the Institute of Science. The mission of this program is to train Criminalistics experts who can conduct national and international research and have the capacity to use their knowledge and skills effectively during forensic investigations and to ensure that science and technology are used more effectively in justice services.
Program; On 06/07/2022, the Higher Education Executive Board changed the said department and program into an interdisciplinary Forensic Sciences Department and an interdisciplinary Forensic Sciences Master´s Program affiliated to this department, by Article 4 of the Organization and Operating Regulation of Graduate Education Institutes. It has been approved.
The program continues as Forensic Sciences Master´s Program.
As of 2022-2023, the Doctorate Program has also been opened.

Specific Admission Requirements
Students are registered for the PhD. program at the level stipulated by the "Bursa Uludağ University Graduate Education and Training Regulations". The number of students to be admitted to the program and the application conditions are announced on the web page of Bursa Uludağ University Science Institute at the beginning of each semester.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Bursa Uludag University, Postgraduate Education and Training Regulation Implementation Principles will be taken into account. “(1) All candidates are subjected to preliminary evaluation in order to determine the candidates to be called for the entrance exams to be held by the department. This preliminary assessment is made by taking into account the ALES score and graduation grade point average (ALES 50% / GANO 50%). “(2) In the admission of foreign students to the master´s program, 50% of the graduation grade point average and 50% of the result of the written scientific evaluation and/or interview exam are taken into account. Candidates who pass the preliminary evaluation are ranked from at least sixty-five (65) points for master´s degree. “In the preliminary evaluation of the applications, the number of candidates to be taken for the exam is determined by the department as thirty (30) times the quota suggested by the department, in programs with fifteen (15) or less, and two (2) times the number of quotas in programs with more than fifteen (15) quotas. ” With the proposal of the department and the approval of the institute administrative board, the number of students to be called for the exam can be increased up to four (4) times the quota. If there is more than one candidate with the same score in the last place according to the ranking, all of these candidates are called for the entrance exam.

Graduation Requirements
In accordance with the BUU Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Regulation on Graduate Education and Training, the following principles will be followed. “ARTICLE 34 - (1) The principles regarding the scope of the doctoral program are as follows: a) Students admitted to the PhD program with a master´s degree with thesis must be successful in at least 240 ECTS in order to graduate. This credit load must consist of at least eight courses and seminar in the course phase, provided that it is not less than 60 ECTS for an academic year; the remaining load must be provided from the seminar, proficiency exam and thesis study after the course phase. b) The graduation requirement for students in the integrated doctoral program consists of a total of at least 300 ECTS credits, including at least fourteen courses, seminar, qualifying exam and thesis study. c) In order for the student to graduate, it is also compulsory to fulfill the publication or scientific activity requirement determined by the Senate decision.
