Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Landscape Architecture was established on 29.06.1999 and started to admit students at the undergraduate level as of the 2018-2019 academic year. In our department, education and training started at the Master´s level with the decision of CoHE (Council of Higher Education) dated 07.11.2014 and at the doctorate level with the decision of CoHE on 16 06.2021.

Landscape Architecture Program is subject to the 180-240 ECTS credits sixth stage degree system in higher education. When the program is successfully completed and the program qualifications are met, a PhD degree is obtained in the Department of Landscape Architecture.

Third Cycle

Application to a doctoral program with a master´s diploma is subject to the specific eligibility condition of the doctoral program. Candidates applying to the doctoral program are required to have at least the lowest ALES score to be determined by the Bursa Uludağ University Senate in the type of science numerical score. Turkish candidates must have obtained at least the lowest score to be determined by Bursa Uludağ University Senate in English, German, French, Italian, Russian or Arabic languages from YDS, YÖKDİL, TOEFL or other equivalent exams accepted by CoHE. Likewise, foreign candidates must have obtained at least the lowest score determined by Bursa Uludağ University Senate in English, German or French from YDS, YÖKDİL, TOEFL or other equivalent exams accepted by CoHE.

The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

The doctoral program consists of a lecture phase, seminar, proficiency exam, thesis proposal, and thesis defense. 1 seminar presentation must be made before the proficiency exam. Candidates who have completed their credit courses must be successful by taking the proficiency exam. After the proficiency exam, candidates must determine the thesis topic and successfully complete the thesis study. Candidates who meet the graduation requirements determined by Bursa Uludag University Senate are given a doctoral degree in Landscape Architecture.

The aim of the program is to train expert individuals who have the ability to transform the knowledge they have obtained at other levels into original research, who have the capacity to independently construct and conclude a scientific research related to their expertise, who can produce solutions for the problems encountered in the field of theory and practice, and who contribute to the development of universal science.

1. Will be able to conduct extensive research on landscape planning and design, and construct new approaches.
2. Will be able to produce the basic features and selection approaches of landscape plants to be used in design and restoration works in landscape architecture
3. Will be able to comprehend the importance of nature and environment in landscape architecture and put forward methodological approaches to protect, develop and analyze human relations.
4. Will have the ability to create opinion, solve and develop national, regional and local problems related to landscape architecture.
5. Will have the ability to establish advanced written, verbal and visual communication by using communication skills effectively.
6. Will have the ability to create and analyze new information in cooperation with disciplines related to the field.
7. Will be able to demonstrate the ability to perform original work that develops a new idea, method, design and / or application in their field or applies a known idea, method, design and / or application to a different field.
8. Will have skills about professional ethics and responsibility, and lifelong learning.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates who successfully complete the doctorate program can apply for an academic position in higher education institutions in the country or abroad, or for an expert position in research centers in public institutions in the same or similar fields.

In order to successfully complete the doctorate program, the candidate must fulfill the conditions described in the ´Qualification Requirements and Rules´ section, meet the publication requirement and must be successfully defended before a jury, in accordance with the decision no. 1 taken at the Bursa Uludag University Senate meeting dated 27.06.2019
