General Description

Brief History
The Department of Polymer Materials was established in 2018 with the participation of one professor, three associate professors and two assistant professors. As of February 2025, it continues its educational activities with five professors and four associate professors.

When the program is successfully completed and the program qualifications are met, a doctorate degree in the field of Polymer Materials is obtained

Specific Admission Requirements
It is required to have a Bachelor´s and Master´s degree and the ALES base score determined by the Bursa Uludağ University Senate in the numerical score type for science. Students are required to have obtained the base score determined by the B.U.U. Senate from ÜDS, KPDS, TOEFL or equivalent exams accepted by YÖK, or from the foreign language exam conducted by Bursa Uludağ University School of Foreign Languages. The B.U.U. Senate is responsible for determining the equivalency of other individual foreign language documents. Applicants from abroad must demonstrate Turkish proficiency certificate from TÖMER and provide the relevant ALES exam result. Alternatively, they may submit an exam result certificate from any of the GRE, GMAT and similar exams accepted as internationally equivalent by YÖK.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Bursa Uludag University, Graduate Education and Training Regulation Implementation Principles will be taken into consideration. "(1) All candidates shall be subjected to preliminary evaluation in order to determine the candidates to be called for the entrance examinations to be held by the department. This preliminary evaluation is made by taking into account the ALES score and graduation grade point average (ALES 50% / GPA 50%). "(2) In the admission of foreign students to the master´s program, 50% of the graduation grade point average and 50% of the result of the written scientific evaluation and/or interview exam are taken into consideration. Applicants who pass the preliminary assessment are ranked from a minimum of sixty-five (65) points for the master´s degree." "In the preliminary evaluation of the applications, the number of candidates to be taken to the exam is determined as thirty (30) times the number of quotas in programs with fifteen (15) or less quotas and two (2) times the number of quotas in programs with fifteen (15) or less quotas recommended by the department." With the proposal of the department and the approval of the institute board of directors, the number of students to be called for the exam can be increased up to four (4) times the quota. If there is more than one candidate with the same score in the last place according to the ranking, all these candidates will be called for the entrance exam."

"Bursa Uludag University Graduate Education and Training Regulation" is valid.

Graduation Requirements
In accordance with the BUU Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Regulation on Graduate Education and Training, the following principles will be followed. “ARTICLE 34 - (1) The principles regarding the scope of the PhD program are as follows: a) Students admitted to the PhD program with a master´s degree with thesis must be successful in at least 240 ECTS in order to graduate. This credit load must consist of at least eight courses and seminar in the course phase, provided that it is not less than 60 ECTS for an academic year; the remaining load must be provided from the seminar, qualifying exam and thesis study after the course phase. b) The graduation requirement for students in the integrated doctoral program consists of a total of at least 300 ECTS credits, including at least fourteen courses, seminar, qualifying exam and thesis study. c) In order for the student to graduate, it is also compulsory to fulfill the publication or scientific activity requirement determined by the Senate decision.
