Plant Growth Genetics and Biotechnology PhD Program
General Description
The Department of Plant Breeding Genetics and Biotechnology was established in 2017 as a PhD
program with the participation of academicians from the Department of Horticulture, Department of
Field Crops and the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the Faculty of Arts and
Sciences of our University. The program aims to establish a research infrastructure for the
development of new products, services and diagnostic technologies using plant breeding, genetics
and biotechnology, to train the personnel needed for these studies, and to establish new structures
in the industry with R&D support through university-industry collaboration.
The PhD program in Plant Breeding Genetics and Biotechnology is subject to the sixth stage degree system with 180–240 ECTS credits in higher education. Upon successful completion of the program and fulfillment of the program qualifications, a PhD degree in Plant Breeding Genetics and Biotechnology is awarded.
