General Description
After its foundation in 1994, the department of Psychology of the Faculty of Arts & Science at Uludağ University provided some courses for the students of other departments within the faculty. In 2000, the department enrolled its first undergraduate students. The first MA program of the department was established in in Developmental Psychology in 2001. Currently, the department offers MA programme in the fields of Social and Experimental Psychology. Besides, under the Social Sciences Institute the department started to offer doctorate programmes in Social Psychology and Experimental Psychology since 2014-2015 academic year.
Students who have successfully fulfilled all program requirements are awarded with doctorate degree in General Psychology.(The Qualifications Frameworks in the European Higher Education Area (QF-EHEA): Level 3, European Qualifications Framework (EQF-LLL): Level 8)

Specific Admission Requirements
PhD program entry requirements
1- Having a Bachelor´s and Master´s Degree in Psychology,
2-To have at least 55 points from the Graduate Entrance Examination (ALES) in the (validity period is 3 years). ALES certificate and other internationally recognized documents (GRE, GMAT, etc.) are valid for foreign students, and there is no score requirement.
3- It is necessary to get at least 55 points in order to have sufficient foreign language skills (YDS, YÖKDİL, BUÜDS). Apart from these documents, candidates can submit equivalent scores of the internationally valid exams such as TOEFL and IELTS considered by B. U. Ü. Senate (eg; TOEFL-IBT min. 66).
-ALES 50% +M.A. GPA %20 + INTERVIEW 30% = The candidates are ranked according to the weighted total points they have obtained after the evaluation and students are accepted according to the quota, starting from the candidate with the highest score.
For Foreign Nationals
-ALES 50% + M.A. GPA 25% + INTERVIEW 25% = The candidates are ranked according to the weighted total points they have received after the evaluation and students are accepted according to the quota, starting from the candidate with the highest score.
Students are admitted each year in the fall semester.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The Doctorate degree in psychology is awarded to graduate students who successfully completed 24 credits (60 ECTS) of course work offered by the department or related departments; in total completed 240 ECTS; get a GPA score 75 or better (75/100-2.50/4.00); successfully achieved the PhD qualifying exam and successfully defended a thesis relevant the study field.

Psychology doctorate degree program aims at building a creative learning environment in which advanced level information on various areas of psychology are provided; the connections between theory and practice are emphasized, national and international literature are being followed closely.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Students who have completed Psychology Doctorate Programme, receive the “Psychology Doctorate” degree. With this degree, they may have opportunity to engage in research and teaching within higher education institutions. They can be research assistant, lecturer and higher academic positions within higher education institutions. Additionally they have opportunity to engage in research as a postdoc researcher via scholarship pragrammes. Besides, they may have opportunity to work in various settings, including private practices, hospitals, mental health organizations, schools, childcare centers, psychological guidance centers, police organization, judicial institutions (family courts, penal institutions...etc.), psychotechnical laboratories.

Access to Further Studies
This programme is at the top level of the National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education in Turkey. Hence, access to any upper level of study is not possible. They have opportunity to engage in research as a postdoc researcher.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
In order to complete doctorate program, each postgraduate student must complete an approved program of study of at least 12 courses (no less than 24 credits) and seminar during the coursework stage, and then s/he must pass doctorate proficiency exam, seminar course and complete thesis work and thesis examination during the thesis stage. Postgraduate students are allowed to take exam from each course only if they have attended lectures (attendance requirement is 70% of the lectures for the theoretical courses and 80% of the lectures for the practical courses). For each course the students must take at least one final exam. Candidates receive a score for each course ranging from 1 to 100. Candidates are required to receive a score no less than 75. The letter-grades corresponding to each scores and their coefficients have been determined by Social Sciences Institute. Candidates complete the coursework if they receive one of those scores: AA, BA, BB or CB.

Graduation Requirements
In order to successfully complete the program, it is necessary to pass all the compulsory and elective courses in the program with a grade point average of at least 2.5 out of 4.00, to achieve the doctoral qualification stage and to be successful in the thesis defense. A total of 240 ECTS must be completed.

Those people works under one of those psychological branches: Experimental Psychology, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Applied Psychology.
The Department owns an Applied Psychology Laboratory prepared to be used for educational and research purposes.
Also, students can benefit from student exchange programs such as Erasmus and Farabi.
