Molecular Biology and Genetics
General Description
Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics was founded in 2011 within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The course load and course content of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the Molecular Biology and Genetics department were modeled after world’s leading universities’ programs. Admissions to the Molecular Biology and Genetics M.Sc program begun on the fall semester of 2013. The program includes applied education as well as up-to-date theoretical knowledge in Molecular Biology and Genetics in a manner that will allow students to successfully apply the techniques of the discipline and be accomplished researchers in their areas. Through worldwide student and academician exchange schemes, projects concerning education and research are conducted in partnership with other Molecular Biology and Genetics departments in Turkey and abroad.
The MSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics is based on 120 ECTS credits of achievement. Successful graduates of the program, who complete the program requirements, are awarded with a master’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics.

Specific Admission Requirements
For the student admission process of the MSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics program, general guidelines stated in the regulations of Bursa Uludag University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences are applied. Program quota and application requirements are announced before the beginning of an academic semester in the website of B.U.U. Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences.
5
Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.
6
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to obtain the MSc degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics, students must accumulate a minimum of 23 (60 ECTS) credits from all of the theoretical courses, as well as seminars during the course stage and the thesis stage, each of which should be passed with at least 70 point over 100. In addition, a thesis must be prepared and defended in front of the jury. The MSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics program includes an education package of at least 2 years. In their first year, students are expected to successfully complete all their mandatory and elective courses as well as a course-stage seminar (60 ECTS). In their second year, a theoretical and applied thesis project is conducted on a topic chosen by their thesis advisor. The student who finishes their thesis project and successfully completes their thesis-stage seminar (60 ECTS) defends their thesis in front of a jury. The student who receives a passing grade from the thesis defense jury receives a master’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics.
