General Description
Elementary Education M.A. program has started in 1992 as a part of the Institute of Social Sciences and continues its education on our University´s Gorukle campus since 1996. During the 2011 2012 academic year it has become a part of the Institute of Educational Sciences and has evolved and developed according to the global standards and needs of the era. With its outstanding faculty members, our program aims at helping its students, who wants to be academic researchers, or develop themselves to gain a scientific understanding, occupational
knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
This program is contingent upon 120 ECTS credits, second level degree system in higher education in the field of Elementary Education. On condition that the program is completed successfully, one possesses an M.A. degree in Elementary Education.

Specific Admission Requirements
To apply to MA Degree Program, one needs to have the following requirements:
1 BA Degree from Faculty of Education,
2 Having the necessary score from the Graduate Entrance Exam (ALES),
3 Having the necessary foreign language skills.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students are awarded MA Degree of Elementary Education Department after having the courses of the program or other related department of MA degree consisting at least 24 credits and completing them succesfully, having at least 70 grade point average and defensing the dissertation written on a related field in front of a selected jury successfully.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the Department of Elementary Education is to raise expert individuals in the fields of Teaching Science, Teaching Mathematic, Pre School Education, Primary School Teaching and Teaching Social Sciences that have necessary information, skill, attitude, and experience to educate and have high level of original researches and have critical thinking, high self esteem, and capable of following scientific research methods, and innovations in his/her field on a national and international scale.
Targets:
1. To become an equipped department having a MA Degree Program in the field of Elementary Sciences, having researches, providing and developing physical and academic continuity
2. To create a research environment that produces solutions, designs, develops, applies programs to the problems of Elementary Education by using quantitive and qualitative scientific research methods actively.
3. To become a department that develops programs and produces scientific and stationary solutions with new approaches for the current problems or unpredictable complicated situations during Elementary Education implementations.

Tob be able to have fund of knowledge in the content of Elementary Education, to develop hypothetical and implemental knowledge acquired on expert-level and producing new information by connecting it with knowledge of other fields.

Access to Further Studies
Students, completed the MA Degree Program successfully, can apply to Elementary Education PhD Program in Educational Sciences Institutions of other universities or can study in other related PhD programs in the condition of “Apply + Interview = Success.”

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
For students to be able to register for the courses at the beginning of the terms and enter the examinations at the end of the terms they have to attend 70% of the courses and 80% of practices. Students take at least one mid term and one final examination for each course they are taking. The contribution of the mid term grade to final grade is 50% (all other forms of assessment can be used as a mid term grade such as projects, quizzes, homework, and etc.) just as the contribution of the final exam (50%). All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students are required to receive at least 70 from the final examination. Those who receive one of the following letter grades, AA, BA, BB, CB, and CC are considered as successful.

Graduation Requirements
In order to complete the program successfully, it is required to have at least 2,00 grade point average over 4,00 and proposing and successfully defending a dissertation in front of a jury.
