General Description
Master of Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program is a branch of Educational Sciences Department in the Institute of Educational Sciences. The program offers must and elective area core courses and courses on research and practice. Courses are theoretical and/or practice-based. This program was first opened in the academic year of 1994 in order to train specialized professionals with essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The program has 4 Professor, 5 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors and 2 Research Assistant.
In successful completion of the program requirements, one receives the degree of master in Guidance and Psychological Counseling.

Specific Admission Requirements
1-Applicants of the Master program must be a graduate of any related field., 2 -must have obtained standard score from Academic Staff and Graduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES). 3- must have the required competence of English

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
One receives Master Degree in GPC upon successful completion of a 28- credit course work of theory, seminar, area specialty and thesis (equal to 120 ECTS in total), with a GPA of 70 over 100, and successfully defending a master´s thesis in front of a jurry

GPC Master Program aims to train professionals with a good command of GPC knowledge, skills, attitudes and professional ethics of counseling and keep them up-to-date and with sufficient knowledge of statistical and research methods.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
GPC Master Program graduates can find employment as counselors in state and private schools, GPC Research Centers, universities, social services agencies, Ministry of Justice and Labor, human resources departments of companies.

Access to Further Studies
Holders of GPC Master degrees can apply for PhD programs with relevant score of ALES (Graduate Study Matriculation Exam) and relevant score of English as a foreign language

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students are required to register to courses and attend at least 70 % of theoretical and 80 % of practical courses in order to be eligible for taking the final exams. Students take final exams for each course at the end of the semester. Scores gained via evaluative methods such as projects, laboratory exams, quizzes etc. can count for midterm exam scores. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. A score of 70 is required for the final exams. AA, BA, BB, CB and CC grades are regarded as successful.

Graduation Requirements
In order to complete the program, they must take all the courses (120 ECTS credits in total) having 2,00 general average grades out of 4.00 on the core subjects and are to be successful in the Seminar course and Master’s thesis defense.
