General Description
Protected Cultivation programme of Yenişehir İbrahim Orhan Vocational School, Uludağ University had started the education from the beginning of 2010-2011 academic year.
This programme is involved in the 2-year undergraduate study system with a total of 120 ECTS credits in the greenhouse sector. The students deserve to get undergraduate diploma in this area after accomplishing the programme courses successfully and providing the programme qualifications.

Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates must have a higher school diploma or an equivalent school diploma and have had enough points in YGS-6 (Passage to Higher Education Exam) exam results provided by ÖSYM which is the student selection and placement center in TURKEY. or they can pass without exam, thanks to their right of free passage, from vocational schools to their related branches at universities.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

The students are required to accomplish all of the obligatory and optiona courses involved in the programme ( 120 ECTS in total) and to get a general arithmetical note average of 2.0 over 4.0.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the programme is to train technical personnel who can build up greeenhouses, and manage a greenhouse and produce vegetables and ornamental plants under protected cultivation, qualified about the technical aspects such as irrigation, fertilization, pruning, pest control, and harvest, know about the organic and soilless culture techniques and apply them, can identify the diseases and pests on plants and aware of nature- friendly control methods and can put them into practice.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
They can be employed in the organisations of Ministry of Agriculture. Undergraduates from this programme can build up their own greenhouses if they can get financial aid, moreover, they can work in the vegetable, cut flower or pot flower greenhouses of private firms, as well as they can be employed in seedling production firms, in the managements producing outdoor plants, in seed or pesticide companies, fertilizer companies, also in compaines manufacturing irrigation equipment, in landscape managements, and finally in landscape design works of tourism companies.

Access to Further Studies
The candidates who successfully completed the undergraduate education can continue in the Plant Propagation programmes of Agricultural faculties after succeding the related exam.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
All students should be admitted in the courses at the beginning of each term and be participated in 70% of the theoretical courses and 80% of the practices in order to deserve to enter the final exam. The students are subjected to at least 1 visa and one final exam for each course. The contribution of visas to the success mark is 50%, and that of final exam is also 50% ( homeworks, laboratory exams, quizzes etc. can also be evaluated as a visa). All exams are evaluated over 100 points. It is obligatory to get at least 30 points from the final exam. Students who got AA, BA, BB, CB or CC are considered as successful. DC and DD are conditionally successful letter marks. The students whose GANA are not less than 2.00 at the end of the last term are considered as successful from the courses with DC and DD letter marks.

Address and Contact Details
Four lecturers have been studying in the Greenhouse programme of Yenişehir İbrahim Orhan Vocation School, two of them having Ph.D degree. There is a laboratory in our vocational school comprising some glassware and laboratory devices in which some practices related to plant growing are carried out. Cultivation of vegetables and ornamental plants, as well as practical courses are realised in the field of our vocational school with an approximate area of 5000 square meters and 4 greenhouses with a total area of approximately 1000 square meters.Moreover, some trials and practices related to the propagation and cultivation of outdoor ornamentals and some fruit species are realized. Our vocational school comprises a library, a canteen and a student residence hall with a total capacity of 160 students.
