19 Objective of the Course: To introduce major authors’ works of different literary movements and periods from world literature in terms of poetry, drama, novel, story and various literary movements and improve general culture

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to identify major movements and literature types emerged in different periods in world literature theoretically and practically;
2 To be able to describe and read work of artists representing different periods and movements;
3 To be able to comprehend literal view of different cultures from different periods;
4 To be able to get information related to the cases and experiences in lives of various societies throughout the world;
5 To be able to analyze and compare works of prominent writers from different cultures and periods;
6 To be able to develop examination and analysis skills;
7 To be able to develop knowledge of world literature;
8 To be able to evaluate international literary nation by discussing ;

3 Samples and features of legend and poetic story in Western and Eastern cultures
4 Western literature and development of legend
5 Period of Antiquity and Homeros: reading and analyzing legend of Iliad
6 Drama: features of tragedy and comedy
7 Greek literature and Sophocles: reading and analyzing Tragedy of Oedipus
8 Sense of tragedy in 16. century English Literature and analysis of Shakespeare’s character tragedy in Hamlet
9 Sense of lyric poetry in French literature and its features: Analysis of Francoise Villon and Ronsard’s poetries
10 Romanticism in Europe and analysis of Goethe’s Pain of Young Werther
11 Edgar Alain Poe in American Literature and sense of American poetry
12 Introducing Realism in French literature and its features through Balzac’s Father Goriot
13 Dostoyevsky and Karamazov Brothers in Russian literature
