19 Objective of the Course: Primarly aim of this course provides an exploration of printmaking processes for creative image making. The student will investigate various media in printmaking, and to identify the characteristics particular to print imagery. This course is designed introduce students to various fine arts methods of printmaking. Monoprint and Relief processes will be explored. Painterly and photographic approaches to creating designs suitable for printing methods will be encouraged. Once approaches to basic media have been introduced, students will be guided to combine processes in a contemporary manner.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Discuss the history and techniques of the monotype and relief printmaking processes using appropriate terminology.;
2 Create an edition of execute prints using monotype and relief printmaking methods.;
3 Demonstrate knowledge of the practical aspects of printmaking, size of edition, numbering and edition, keeping records, matting and framing prints.;
4 Observe and critique an original print or a print exhibition in a written presentation using correct terminology.;
5 Observe and critique an original print or a print exhibition in a written presentation using correct terminology.;
6 Create works eligible for entry into the student exhibition.;
7 Investigate art as a profession.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Introduction What is a Print? Brief History of Printmaking Printmaking Techniques; Monoprint , Stencil Print, Collagraph, Linocut, Woodcut, Wood Engraving, Dry Point, Engraving, Etching, Screen Printing, Litography and Digital Printing. Preparing inked surface onto the piece of glass. Placing paper on the inked surface and non-figurative drawing composition with different hard materials.
2 A brief history of monoprints and monotypes Materials and tools for monoprint; Papers, inks for monoprint, rollers, etc. Theorical lecture and powerpoint representation about monoprint essentials. Demostration on how to use monoprint materials and tools. Monocromatic figurative monoprint practices.
3 Grup discussion on non-figurative monoprints of the students and comparision with samples of monoprint masters from the worlwide. Multi colored monoprint practices.
4 Grup discussion on figurative monoprints of the students. Theorical lecture and powerpoint representation about multi colored monoprint Essentials and ıt’s materials. Experimental monoprint practices.
5 Grup discussion on multi colored monoprints of the students. Prepare figurative sketches for white line method in linocut. Selecting an appropriate image for printmaking from among sketches. Drawing image with white pencil or brush on black paper.
6 Midterms examination Placing image on the block and transfer image from paper to linocut surface for cutting. Cutting the block using carving tools.

Prepare non-figurative sketches for linocut. Selecting an appropriate image for printmaking from among sketches. Drawing image with ink pen or brush as black – white on paper.
9 Grup discussion on white line linocut-prints of student and Powerpoint representation of Kathe Kollwitz’s relief prints. Demostration on how to use hand printing method for linocut prints. Placing image on the block and transfer image from paper to linocut surface for cutting. Cutting the block using carving tools.
10 Theorical lecture and powerpoint representation about black line linocut essentials. Powerpoint presentation of samples from among artworks of famous artist’s linocuts Printing the block in hand printing. Numbering ang singing the prints.
11 Grup discussion on student wash – ink drawing and comparision with samples of linocut masters from the worlwide. Demostration on how to use Linocut, materials and tools. Drawing colored figurative sketch drawings for reduction printing process. Selecting an appropriate image for reduction printing process from among sketches. Drawing image with pen as contour line on paper. Cutting the block using carving tools. Printing fist color.
12 Critics on students’s art works. Demostration on how to ink linolleum block and printing process and Powerpoint presentation about printing process. Printing second and thirth color.
13 Introduction to multicolor linocut printing processes and techniques; reduction method, multi pattern method and hand coloring mrthod. Theorical lecture and powerpoint representation about reduction printing process essentials.
14 Critics on students art works.
