19 Objective of the Course: The objective of the course is to make students study new researches with scientific researches regarding the field through following the evolutions about Graphic Arts in our country and in the other countries.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Ability to explain the importance of the graphic arts in modern life;
2 Ability to associate the elements used in grapical communication with daily life;
3 Ability to apply graphic arts principles to original works of art;
4 Ability to produce creative suggestions in design making;
5 Ability to explain the historical progress of the graphic design in our country and in the other countries;
6 Ability to explain the importance of movements those affect the historical progress of graphic design;
7 Ability to use technology in the process of researching and creating works of graphic design;
8 Ability to analyse the scientific researches regarding graphic design;
9 Ability to prepare a scientific presentation in the field of Graphic Design using current technology;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Informing students about course objective, course content and learning outcomes. Discussing about the importance of the graphic arts in modern life and the use for the applications in advertisements. Homework 1- A translation of an article which examines the historical progress of the Graphic Design.
2 Explaining the graphic design in Industrial Revolution and the evolution of printing techniques presenting visual samples.
3 Explaining Arts and Craft and Art Nouveau movements presenting visual samples.
4 Explaining the historical progress of Poster and principles of designing a poster presenting visual samples. Homework 2- Designing a poster about a subject determined.
5 Explaining Graphic Design in early 20. Century in Europe and the poster design in I. World War term presenting visual samples.
6 Explaining Russian Suprematism and Constructivism presenting visual samples.
7 Explaining De Stijl movement and Bauhaus School presenting visual samples. Homework 3- A translation of an article which examines the effects of Bauhaus School in the progress of Graphic Design.
8 Explaining the Graphic Design in the context of Modern Art Movements and New York School presenting visual samples.
9 Explaining Poland Poster Art and Cuban Posters presenting visual samples.
10 Explaining Photographic in a Conceptual way and Grapus School presenting visual samples.
11 Explaining Graphic Design in Japan after war presenting visual samples.
12 Explaining Postmodernism in American Graphic Design and the Graphic Design in Holland presenting visual samples.
13 Explaining the Graphic Design in Turkey and its progress. Homework 4- Preparing a research about a Turkish Graphic Artist’s artistic life and works.
14 Presenting the works of considerable Turkish Graphic Artists and criticizing.
