19 Objective of the Course: By introducing students to Islamic Ethics which is an important part of Islamic culture, and its main terms and concepts, the curriculum aims at preparing students to comprehend the main structure of Islamic culture.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To evaluate the history, concepts, methodology, and representatives of Islamic ethics, and its relationship with contemporary understandings of ethics.;
2 To analyze ethical theories of Islam, and different and similar aspects of Islamic ethics and philosophy of ethics.;
3 To research thoughts affecting construction of Islamic ethics, especially ethical understandings which are constructed in Islamic thought and Greek philosophy.;
4 To examine ethical understandings in the classical literature of Islamic culture.;
5 To compare various ethical understandings in the Islamic thought.;
6 To evaluate the prominent thinkers of Islamic ethics and relevant literature.;
7 To correlate the concepts of value, duty, moral rule and conscience.;
8 To discuss the issue of universality and particularity in ethics.;
9 To investigate the relationship between society and morality, individual and morality, and state and morality.;
10 To have knowledge of Muslim moralists of this age and characteristic of Islamic morality.;

1 Introduction: the description and the analysis of the concept of morality.
2 The subjects and the methodology of the science of morality and ethics.
3 The religious and non-religious sources of Islamic ethics.
4 The ethics of Greek philosophers: Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.
5 The prominent Muslim moralists: al-Kindi, al-Farabi, Avicenna.
6 The prominent Muslim moralists: al-Razi, Ibn Miskawayh.
7 The prominent Muslim moralists: al-Ghazali.
8 The main concepts of ethics: Values, human and moral valuesThe main concepts of ethics: Values, human and moral values
9 The main concepts of ethics: eudemonistic ethics.
10 The main concepts of ethics: the concept of duty and ethics of Kant’s moral philosophy.
11 The main concepts of ethics: Moral attitude and its features.
12 The main concepts of ethics: Hulq, temper, character and nature.
