General Description

Brief History
Uludag University İznik Vocational School Travel-Tourism and Leisure Services Department, Tourism Guiding Program has been rendering education since 2006-2007 academic year.

Qualification Awarded
Upon successfully completing the 120-ACTS credit program and acquiring the program qualifications, the students graduate with Tourism Guiding degree.

Specific Admission Requirements
The applicant should have a high school or its equivalent diploma and the other requirements are determined by OSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) in accordance with the applicable legislation of YOK (Higher Education Council)

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to be able to receive an Associate Degree in Tourism Guiding Program, it is required to successfully complete all the compulsory and elective courses a student should have (a total of 120 ACTS) and to have at least 2.00 GPA (grade point average) over 4.00

Key Learning Outcomes
1. Being informed of the structure, functioning and the importance of the country devolopment of the tourism sector .
2. Being able to comfortable use the English language in a professional sense
3. To Learn the Principles of Ataturk and the History of Revolution, grasp the basic values and ensure to associate them in current events
4. Grasp the basic principles of the economy and build relationships with these and tourism
5. Determine Turkey's Geographical values ,the issues and provide to associate these with current events
6. To schedule, apply and check a tour
7. To know and apply the legal regulations and the professional standards of the tourism area and tourist guidance.
8. Get to know different cultures, to understand and communicate in different cultures
9. Turkey will be able to create the tangible and intangible cultural heritage conscious and able to notice the positive and negative examples on museology.
10. Recognizing the basic concepts of tourist guiding
11. Provide to association between the Turkey’s Archaeological values,problems and current events
12. Provide to association between the Turkey's art history critical values problems and current events

16. To gain information about the fauna and flora of the Anatolian geography and to raise awareness by increasing the sensitivity on these issues

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Individuals who have gained the required professional proficiencies can work in Museums, Tourist Bureau, Travel Agency or as an independent guide

Access to Further Studies
The graduates who successfully complete their associate training have the opportunity to apply to related undergraduate programs on condition that they acquire a sufficient mark from External Transfer Exam executed by OSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center)

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
A student has to register at the beginning of the semester and has to attend at least 70% of the theoretical lessons and 80% of the practices in order to be able to enter the final exam of that particular course. The students are given at least one mid-term exam and one final exam. Mid-term exam (the grades given by assignments, lab exams and quizzes may also be added to mid-term grade) consists 40% of the pass mark and final exam consists the other 60%. All the exams are evaluated out of 100. The students have to acquire at least 30 points from the final exam. A student who has acquired AA, BA, BB, CB or CC as the pass mark from any course is considered as successful for that particular lesson. DC and DD are conditional successful grades. A student has to obtain 2.0 GPA (General Point Average) in order to be considered as successful for a course which they have received DC or DD as pass mark.

Graduation Requirements
A student has to pass all the courses (a total of 120 ACTS), obtain at least 2.00 GPA over 4.00, escape FF or FD for any courses and complete the compulsory internship in order to be able to successfully complete the program.

Facilities
The training in the vocational school of higher education takes place in technologically equipped classes (projection, smart board, internet connection), computer lab with internet connection, library and conference hall. Additionally, seminars in which experts and managers from the business world conveyed their knowledge and experience are hold and technical visits are organized with the aim of seeing and learning the practices in the businesses on site.
