21 Learning Outcomes:
1 The ability to comprehend the importance of paleography in the discipline of history.;;
2 The ability to explain the process of turning Arabic letters into calligraphy (hüsn-i hat) in Ottoman culture.;;
3 The ability to distinguish Sülüs, Nesih, Rika, Tevki and Murakka, which types of basic writings, from the other types.;;
4 The ability to distinguish Taliq, Diwani, Celi Diwani, which types of other basic writings, from the other types.;;
5 The ability to comprehend hijri months and their symbols used in paleography.;;
6 The ability to read examples of documents (letters).;;
7 The ability to read examples of documents (qadi/court records).;;
8 The ability to read examples of documents (firmans).;;
9 The ability to read examples of documents (waqfiyahs).;;
10 The ability to read examples of documents (other archival materials).;;

1 The concept of paleography and its relation to other relevant fields.
2 The method of reading the writings written with hüsn-i hat.
3 The features of writings that written by hand.
4 The writing examples of Ottoman bureaucracy.
5 Types of Sülüs, Nesih, Riqa, Tevqi and Muhakkak
6 Types of Taliq, Diwani, Celi Diwani, Siyaqat.
7 Hijri/lunar months and their symbols
8 Examples of letters.
9 Examples of court records (I)
10 Examples of court records (II)
